1936 R312 set.....questions
Long-term... Is it worth collecting? does it have an upside?
historically, what have you guys seen? Im potentially interested in collecting the higher graded ones... I realize it will never hit the gum issue sets....but was curious, as to your guys opinions thx!! |
An argument can be made that since SGC/BVG only added slabs that can contain them relatively recently, that the market for them (and other oversized issues) has not yet matured.

I think Matt is 100% correct. Also, the R312's seem to be a good deal scarer than many of the other Goudey/Play Ball sets of the era.

R312
I personally love the set. Lots of star power with Greenberg, Dickey, Wagner, Hornsby, Mack, Mize Rookie and Dimaggio Rookie, I think there is a lot of potential for high grade examples.

Love this set

Wow! That is a beautiful card of Hank!

Count me as another R312 guy. This set definitely doesn't get the love it deserves. Sooner or later that will probably change.

I have been collecting these for years. Like everything else, I don't focus, and still need 7 to complete including DiMaggio. I think these are a very attractive set and the colors are great. I bought 2 a few years that came with glassine envelopes. The dealer said these were original to the issue.
I really don't know how they were distributed. Can anyone confirm? Thanks, Mike |

A great set. Not easy to find but still relatively affordable. Nice colors and poses found nowhere else. I've got 17 of the 50. |
