Brooklyn vs the world 1949
 

I picked up this envelope recently because of the cancellation. It advertises an exhibition game. The cancel reads Brooklyn vs World baseball combats juvenile delinquency July 26, 1949

Does anyone know about this game? Dodgers or a local team? And who might have played on either team?

I don't know the reference, but it wouldn't have been the Dodgers, as they were losing 6-0 in Wrigley that day http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1949/07261949.htm

If you Google "baseball combats juvenile delinquency" you get this hit: http://caphila.free.fr/Th%E9matique/baseball.html which is a French site that sells paper ephemera including one like this envelope and one with a similar postmark for August 15-17, 1947. Otherwise I am clueless.
