For auction are the February, March and May 1971 issues of The Trader Speaks. You're bidding on the group of three as one lot. Each issue is in nice shape; scans of the front covers are below, along with brief descriptions of each issue.

Bidding ends at 10 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010. No bids time-stamped after 10:00 p.m. on Feb. 11 will be valid. If two bids for identical amounts are placed at the same time on the same date, the first bid placed is the valid one (I know, this is obvious to 99.9 percent of the board). Bidding starts at $15; subsequent bids should be made in increments of $1. No e-mailed bids.

Payment can be made by check, money order or PayPal. Shipping will be $2.

Any questions, feel free to pass them along.

Thanks, Rob

Congrats Rob! Nice auction!

Rob D. 02-12-2010 10:09 AM

Lol. Yes, I'm thrilled.

Jim VB 02-12-2010 10:48 AM

Hope no one calls you out for flipping them from the BST!

Give me a little credit: At least I didn't post them in a pick-up thread and wax eloquently about how these are the crown jewels of my collection and how I get goose bumps just looking at them -- and then two weeks later offer them for sale.

slidekellyslide 02-12-2010 12:30 PM

Looks like you got the edit in just in time. :D

Rob D. 02-12-2010 12:49 PM

Actually, Dan, I'm ticked at myself for making that edit. I removed that sentence because I thought it sounded too harsh. Now I wish I had just left it there. I know it would have resulted in a smoother transaction than what most likely lies ahead.

slidekellyslide 02-12-2010 02:22 PM

Well, you're always welcome to leave feedback with how the transaction goes. Hopefully it goes well.

Speaking for our board

Speaking for our collective board, and being a wee bit protective, I would love to know how it goes...privately or publicly.

Rob D. 02-12-2010 02:51 PM

Well, I sent an e-mail and a PM within an hour after the auction ended last night listing the total amount due and how payment can be made (check, money order or PayPal). Most folks on the board would reply with an acknowledgment that payment will be on the way soon.

slidekellyslide 02-12-2010 03:30 PM

Well, I'm sure he didn't do this just to interfere with your auction. Something like that has consequences regarding usage of the BST.

Rob D. 02-12-2010 03:37 PM

I agree, Dan.

Leon 02-12-2010 04:31 PM

vacation

He probably went on vacation after he posted? I will never forget the time he had me OVERNIGHT a bank check after we agreed to about a 5k deal, not a personal check mind you, and was on vacation for about a week.....So he sent the cards when he got back.....Why it HAD to be overnighted and HAD to be a bank check and not a personal one, I will never know. Or, I guess maybe he didn't trust my personal one and wanted the bank check so it could sit for a week?

Aah, memories! I recall the time he threatened to have Leon arrested and charged with perjury for saying something "bad" about him.

Or the time he threatened to have Dan scalped.

Or the time he threatened to sue Archive for impersonating him.

Or the time he emailed me and wished death upon me. (OK. I didn't find that one funny, but many others did.)

Or the time he made Rob wait for weeks for $26.

Or... (fill in your own favorite memory here.)

slidekellyslide 02-12-2010 05:03 PM

Well, he wished death upon me and the quote made its way into the NY Daily News Blog. That was a highlight for me. :D

calvindog 02-12-2010 05:38 PM

Rob, I'll take the lot.

Wait, no I won't.

No, I'll take it.

No, I think I'll wait to see if I can make $4 more in Goodwin's auction.

Rob D. 02-12-2010 05:40 PM

Would someone please close those damn floodgates?

calvindog 02-12-2010 07:42 PM

IED in your inbox.

Jim VB 02-12-2010 07:48 PM

Explain this.

Rob D. runs an auction. It runs for 6 days and gets a total of 7 posts.

Auction closes. He gets 18+ more posts in the next 24 hours.

Yeah, just who started this post-auction dialogue?

Jim VB Never Gives Up

Jim VB

We paid Rob by Pay Pal within 12 hours of his e-mail

While low life white trash like yourself have nothing better
to do with their time, we were busy with two major clients
working on a mulit million dollar deal.

Too bad, we are not in the waste management business, we could remove
you with all the other garbage.

We're sick and tired of your constant stupid comments.

Make all the jokes you wish. We have added $50,00 in rare baseball memorabilia to our collection since January. That is probably enough money
to buy you all the spam you can eat for the rest of your worthless life.

So do the world a favor, and go play in traffic.

Did I question either your intent or ability to pay? No.

I believe you're reading something into the situation that isn't there. I merely congratulated Rob on a fine auction. He managed to sell something at a far higher price than it was listed for on the BST just last week. That was the sole intent of my post.

Edited to add - And congrats on adding $50.00 in rare baseball memorabilia since January! Sounds exciting!

Rob D's Special Request

Dear Rob

You must get great pleasure in creating negative posts.

As we mentioned to Jim, we have far more productive things
to do in life than track your child like comments.

Have the good manners to acknowledge that you were paid by
Pay Pal and that you sent us a thank you note this morning.

As for the comments from Jim VB. Rob and Leon- you are welcome to attack. We will fire back. Have fun playing with yourselves, ladies.

Bruce

Rob D. 02-13-2010 11:40 AM

I sent Bruce an e-mail at 10:28 p.m. Eastern Thursday with payment details. I received an e-mail from PayPal today at 8:59 a.m. Eastern that he had paid for the three issues of The Trader Speaks. So that's about 34 hours from the time I sent the e-mail until when he made payment. Not 12 hours as he claims but a vast, vast improvement from previous transactions with him.

Bruce, congrats on adding $50 worth of rare memorabilia to your collection. This transaction will bring the total to $107!

Your issues of TTS were mailed today.

Wait, those Trader Speaks are really hot. Can I bid $89? Really, really hot. No, wait, I don't want them now.
