Need a scan of an OJ Anson
I am in need of an OJ Cap Anson scan. The card I am interseted in does not have any writing on the front and has him in street clothes. I think it is the A.C. Anson version but I am clueless when it comes to OJ's and the card is trimmed down to just the photo of him. Looks like the border is gone. Also in an auction setting with a SGC A grade what may this card bring????

Kyle I am looking for one without any writing on the chest area. Thanks for the scan though.
Jim I have been to VCP already and it shows there may be others like this. Are there any OJ collectors that can verify how many poses Anson has in street clothes without writing on his chest area??? Is there only one and the others listed are just possibles?? |
Nevermind, I'm an idiot. :(

Is this what you are looking for?

That is exactly the scan I needed and matches the card I am after. But the question is that VCP shows this same one but has several variations for it. Are they real or possibles?? Little confusing since I don't collect OJ's. Also any idea what a card like the one I described may go for in auction setting? Thanks for the help guys

The street clothes Anson pose is relatively common, first appearing in 1888 and appearing in all possible varieties (Fa, Fb, Fc, & Fc NL). This probably means very little to you if you haven't studied the set. If you have interest and are about to invest in OJs, I would recommend picking up the Old Judge book (many threads on how this can be done).
Most of the 1888 OJs of Anson (Fa & Fb) do not have the Script writing. The cabinets and all the 1889 (Fc) and 1890 (Fc NL) do. A card that is trimmed down to the photo will only be worth a fraction of a complete card. While a lower to mid grade example with a nice image may go for $5000, a heavily trimmed example may fall below $1000. REA and the other auction houses have sold many Anson cards over the years. Just search their websites (although most of them will be nicer graded examples). REA => http://www.robertedwardauctions.com/...ld+judge+anson |
Joe thank you very much for the info. I found one and was looking for the green light on wether it was worth investing in. I am guessing the asking price for the card is presumably what the card is worth.
Thank you everyone for the help with this. |
