1913 National Game Babe Ruth listed at $500,000 in PSA SMR Guide
The 1913 National Game set has always been one of my favorite sets. The set has a plenty of Hall of Fame members plus the true rookie card of Grover Cleveland Alexander. In the current PSA SMR guide they are now listing a 1913 National Game Babe Ruth at $150,000 (PSA 1) up to $500,000 (PSA 4). Higher grades are unknown. Has anyone heard or known about the sudden inclusion of a Ruth card in this set? Has anyone ever seen one or spotted one in auction? I always thought this set was complete at 54 cards with the rules and score card included. Any information would be appreciated.

I didn't know there was a Ruth card in that set. Was he even playing for his Baltimore minor league team at the time?

According to most biographies, Dunn did not sign Ruth until early 1914.

I am sure that they were referring to the 1914 Baltimore News card of Babe Ruth. It is the only card they list from the set and the pricing info that they note matches up exactly with two of the sales from REA. They goofed up and put in under the wrong heading.
Ruth was with was signed by Baltimore of the International League in February of 1914 and was sold to Boston of the American League in July of the same year. |
Sounds like an error. The wrong information got into the database.

Must be an error that is the first I heard of a National Game Card of Ruth, even if there was one I do not think it would be that high

Thank you for the input. It has been in their SMR for 4 consecutive months and I guess it just must be a mistake on their part.
