Tobin Lithographs

Frank Keetz, in his BASEBALL ADVERTISING TRADE CARDS has three major sets of Tobins listed, the "56", called the cadillac set, the black and white "147" set, and the extremely scarce "149" set. Keetz has only 6 cards listed in the 149 set. I have been able to identify two more for a total of eight, one of which is pictured below. Does anyone know of more than that, and if so do you have any pictures you can share.

Neat cards, do you own the pictured cards (complete set of colored & B/W)? In studying some old newspaper clippings from Troy Kirk, I noticed the following and thought it might be of interest.

May 29th, 1887 Boston Globe:

Champions of the League.
Ten colored comic photographs sent pre-
paid for 15 cents. M.F. Tobin, 299 Broad-
way, New York.

So it looks like anyone could purchase them. While most were likely purchased by various businesses to help them advertise their goods, they could also be ordered by baseball fans and saved (minus advertising).

Hi Joe, I guess that article explains the reason for some cards having an imprint and others blank. Neat piece of information. To answer your question, I own all the cards in the above picture.
