1955 Brooklyn opening day stub & program
 

Anyone see this auction? Anyone here win it? Anyone think it went a bit high $?

Not sure if it went too high, but my question is (and it relates to another thread that I had) how could you tell that the ticket is actually from opening day of 1955? It says opening day on it, but nowhere could I see a date or anything that would relate to a certain date. Any thoughts?

Mike, I thought the same thing. If the ticket was in the program, then it is a pretty good assumption...but it is still not a sure thing.

I thought that the price was a bit high, but for a Clemente collector, it is a nice piece. Also, it is the most collected year for the Dodger enthusiasts. JM2¢.

That's a great ticket and program, and I don't think it went too high. Unfortunately, even when you enlarge the picture the ticket is too small to read, but it may have some helpful information on it. And as previously said, if the stub was found inside the program, there's a very good chance it matches up correctly. But of course one would want to document this a little more.

I think it was the Clemente collectors, as opposed to 1955 Dodgers collectors that drove the price up...Pretty neat that the program lists Clemente as # 13

Agreed. Programs that feature first appearances of Hall of Famers have always been widely collected.

Well to support the thoughts mentioned above, I am a Clemente collector and thought I was getting a bit out of hand bidding high enough to be the under bidder :-( Anyone have a 1955 Brooklyn opening day ticket and program for sale?

The fact that there were 5 different bidders at $500 and up says that the eventual price wasn't too crazy.
