T206 "The Monster" Reprint Set
 

I bought this on eBay a few years ago. The box is a little rough, but the cards are mint. The set does not contain a Doyle NY Nat'l Heads Above Head card. I'm not sure if they didn't print this card as part of the set or if it was removed from the set. It's kind of odd because the set does contain other variations. However, the set contains an extra Ed Collins card that is not a regular issue T206 (top row on right).

Bidding will start out at $10 with $2 increments. Auction closes Wednesday the 13th at 8:00 CST. Shipping will be $5.00.

I respectfully disagree with your decision.

As long as this Auction was open (8 PM CST deadline), the last bidder should be declared the winner......
in the event of a TIE BID.

There was no way that I could have known at 7:59 CST (while I was typing my bid) that another bid
had been placed at $30.

Obviously, had I known this at 8 PM CST, I would have made my bid $32.

The last bid among those of identical amounts should be considered the winner? Come on, Ted.

Ultimately no big deal and like I told vintagetopps guy when I pm'ed my contact info, if he declared Ted the winner - no worries.

However, seems to me that if the auction ended at 8:00, then a bid placed at 8:00:00 is too late - the auction has ended. :)

Regardless I found it a relief that Ted placed the value of these cards at $30. When the auction started I wondered how this board of pre-war collectors would embrace a reprint set. After reading the posts for the last 6 months or so, I consider Ted the foremost authority on t206's. All due respect to you Ted. I'm sure if we ever met and I got a chance to view your collection I would be in awe!

My take is first bid in, at the same amount, wins.....as Rob suggested. To me it's black and white. IF you want to raise bids then I wouldn't wait until the last minute...or this is what can happen.

I appreciate your kind words. And, though I do not agree with David's decision, I want you to enjoy these cards.

I'd like to offer you a suggestion....if you decide to put these cards in an album (in 15 pocket ULTRA-PRO plastic
sheets), organize them according to the four basic Series.....150, Southern Leaguers, 350, and 460. Believe me,
you will gain a greater appreciation of how this set was printed and issued in 1909, 1910, and 1911, respectively.

Thank you very much for the advice. It is golden in my opinion.

I bought a few dozen t206's in fair-to-poor (and worse I've been told) shape this summer and have been debating myself to continue or not.

I'm hoping that perusing this reprint set will teeter my scales one way or the other.

I'll give your sorting suggestion a shot.
