for those who asked about my 1910 and 1911 cards
For those of you who have asked for it here is a list of what I have. I am putting together the Zeenuts list (I don't have the Bohen!) as well as a few miscellaneous that I have. The numbering may not correspond with vintage card prices list as I have yet to assign their appropriate number as they appear within their respective set.

1911 Obak (red back)
Side note I have 2 Roches (card no. 122) of the 1911 Obak Red Back set, but one of them has his name spelled as Poche and one as Roche.

Great collection...regarding the turkey red/T205's...I'm a little confused? Are these T205's...if so than they are not turkey reds...not with broadleaf backs? If all T205's...thats very nice!
|
I definitely might be wrong
I was trying to match my cards to those on Vintage Card Prices site which has pics of the cards. The back of my Turkey Red Cards all state the following:
"Baseball-Actress Series on Satin" and some other advertising wording. You can see the actual thread on these cards. None of my cards are in color other than a redish tinge. So I am not actually sure if the T205 is correct. |
Those would be S74 silks.
|
Thank you.
Anyone have the story on these types of cards or a website so I can learn more about them?
|
|
I was under the impression that the turkey red silks did not come with broadleaf backs...do these have turkey red backs or broadleaf backs...pictures or scans would help greatly. Thanks...

Nice cards...
The Mono's are all very tough to find. It sounds like you have S74's that probably advertise Turkey Red Cigarettes--the fronts should be made of silk and the backs a thin parchment paper feel. Some of your other key cards in this grouping are as follows... -1909 Obak Gandil (Chick Gandil was one of the 8 1919 Black Sox and this card is in very high demand) -1911 Obak Miller (SF) --There was a family member of his buying up all his cards for a while (not sure if they still are or not) but they were tough for that reason -1911 Obak Weaver (Buck Weaver--see Gandil above, same reasoning, though the Gandil is harder to find) -1911 Obak Ten Million (cool name and sort of a cult following for the card) -1911 Obak Mensor (and Cooney) both of Jewish ancestry--their cards tend to sell for more than common due to this fact. -The 150 backed Obaks are much tougher than the 175 versions, and sell for a premium. |
The T217 are sensational, especially since you said in your first post they are all high grade. But I am as confused as anyone regarding your Turkey Red/T205 cards. If they are small gold bordered cards and all have Broadleaf backs, they are worth a large premium over similar cards with common backs.

He means these....

thanks for posting the scan jeff.
i believe he does mean s74's.....not sure where "broadleaf" comes from. s74's do not have anything to do with broadleaf. i suspect he was looking at the same images on vcp for broadleaf t205's (t205's and s74's share the same front images for the most part). good luck with your sale and answering the flood of emails you must be getting.... |
we want pics :)
|
You are right. I was confused looking at Vintage Card Prices' website for pics. They often don't have photos of the backside of the card and the face pic was exactly the same but for the color. I assumed maybe it has just faded. I will do my best to scan some pics of cards.

Anxiously awaiting the list of 1911 Zeenuts.....
|
Look down the list on the main forum Bob, he posted the list earlier today in a new thread.
