Price Premium and a Player's Last Card
I was wondering if any of you have noted whether or not a player's LAST standard issue card holds some sort of premium in terms of $. For example, I oftentimes see sellers for the '69 Mantle add "last card" in the title but don't really think collectors get sentimental about the final card of a player. What d'ya think/know?

Clememte and Mantle are very important last cards and also for me Mays and Aaron. I do get sentimental about them and would think other collectors do as well.

Clemente i could understand, but the others? not so much

There are definitely collectors out there that place additional importance on a player's last card but I don't think there is much of a premium, probably not 1/10 of that which is placed on a player's first card or "rookie card".

The Mantle has a premium
Because it is more difficult than the 68 card AND the card has the complete career stats on the back.
Some of the premiums for last cards depend on circumstances. The Clemente card also has complete career stats. But the more modern the card is; the less premium is attached. Players such as Willie Stargell; Johnny Bench; Willie McCovey got "final" cards in the early part of the 1980's and there is very little premium for those cards. Rich |
Good point Rich
Overlooked this "bonus" to having the last card: complete career stats on the back.
