Bruce,

I'm changing my buying pattern for next year; I'd be happy to pick up one or two higher-priced items rather than a pile of lower-priced ones. Accordingly, I'm saving my pennies for the National in Baltimore, in hopes of picking up either a W600 or E107 Washington player. (Maybe both, if things go well.)

Bill

Is it my imagination, or does this look just like an America's Toughest Want List buy ad? (hi Bruce:))

Frank A 12-12-2009 10:11 AM

Since I moved from Connecticut to Tennessee 4 years ago, I have found nothing of interest. For 2010 I'm just hopeing that something good shows up at an auction or flea market here. It would be nice to actually hold a real find in my hands. Frank

We find that the child-like, idiotic posts of JimVB to be a waste of space.

It is time for JimVB to give up.

I beg to differ with you. And I bet several other board members do also.
Your email threat to me was on 04/17/09. Check your records.

It is so difficult to be taken seriously in the hobby, when you have, on multiple occasions, made threats to people who may disagree with you on a given issue.

I keep "you" as a running joke, Bruce, because you have made yourself one. I will stop mentioning it when you stop making pompous posts about your collection and collecting habits.

It's amusing, and kind of sad, that you don't realize that everyone else is laughing at you.

If we were concerned that fools like you and your friends were laughing at us, we would never built several multi-million dollar business, graduated Magna cum Laude from an Ivy League university or developed one of the most extraordinary baseball memorabila collections extant

Laugh all you want... We'll laugh all the way to the bank and have a big smile
when you laughing fools are history.

As the infamous movie line goes

Frankly, we don't give a damm

Jim VB 12-12-2009 03:07 PM

Why do I have a picture of a short, fat, bald guy, wearing boxers and black socks, rolling around on his bed surrounded by slabs?

Can't shake it.

With all that going for you I don't understand why you persist in making enemies in what is essentially just a hobby.

slidekellyslide 12-12-2009 05:25 PM

Bruce, as I've said before if you can't be man enough to say the same things in this forum that you send me in emails or PM's then keep your racist trash out of my inbox.

SethY 12-12-2009 05:39 PM

I in no way want to insert myself into this situation, argument, or whatever you might call it but the fact that someone is worried about racism online, especially a hobby board worries me. Elitism is a problem; to those who need to feel better: most people truly don't care about others who attempt to "show off" and prove their "superiority" through their material possessions. Can't we all just get along? As cliche as it sounds this is a place to talk about the hobby and enjoy ourselves, not to be racist and hatred to those you do not even know. I am a 17 year old and seem to know better than some on this board, who are relentless in their worthless causes. Whatever this argument is, no one will actually "win" except the website and community as a whole when it comes to an end. I am not calling out anyone in specific and have no grudges because I do not know the details of the argument. Despite this, I can tell that there is a problem and it bothers me that it is getting in the way of hobby conversation and cluttering the boards.

To whoever you are and whoever you may be in the future, grow up, this is no place to prove you are better, stronger, richer, tougher, etc. than someone else.

Thanks all.

Happy Chanukah (I'm celebrating!), Christmas, Kwanza, and holiday season to all!!

Seth

David,

I'd suggest that you should contain your collecting interests to the ultra rare stuff. This last item is far too common for a collection as fine as yours.

teetwoohsix 12-12-2009 07:38 PM

Seth, don't let these things bother you-stay focused on your goals, you have a nice collection going.
JimVB-I happen to like your post's,I don't know you,but you are always here, and I like what you have to say:D
I am not an Ivy League graduate, but I thought damn was spelled d-a-m-n,not damm...........:D

David R 12-12-2009 08:12 PM

For 2010, I hope that Bruce stops posting such arrogant, inflammatory threads and, if he can't, just stop posting altogether.

Yankeefan51 12-12-2009 08:59 PM

Has Dan Lost His Scalp?

Once again Dan is drawing an improper conclusion.

We instructed him to stop lying about us We also suggested that there are
some Nebraska Indians who might be interested in his scalp.
That is hardly racism. Rather it is appropriate response to his commentary

The truth is that we have one of the best Negro League collections
in the country. We have donated several pieces to the Negro League museum and plan to leave our Negro League collection to that museum

We don't see why a baseball card post gravitates to this low level of
stupidity. It is clearly the work of a group of irrelevant folks with nothing better to do.

If the posts stick to baseball, then we will share our knowledge.
If they attack for no reason other than hate, you can be assured that we will respond in kind.

Bruce

slidekellyslide 12-12-2009 09:22 PM

Stop posting your arrogant crap and maybe these posts wouldn't devolve the way they do. They do you a great disservice and I'm not sure why you continue the way you do. Google "Bruce Dorskind" and I'm sure you'll find the third entry to be quite embarrassing. For all eternity on the internet when someone googles your name they are not going to find "Ivy league graduate" or "one of the finest collections of baseball memorabilia extant", they're going to see that NY Daily News blog post and think "Wow! That Bruce Dorskind sure was a sociopath". Congratulations.

JDGball 12-12-2009 10:37 PM

My top 5 would be
T206 Luther Taylor Carolina Brights, Drum, Broadleaf, American Beauty
E91 Luther Taylor
C46 Luther Taylor
1905 Fan Craze Taylor
Taylor photo W600, 1905 Rotograph, 1908 Rose

2010, I am going Taylor craze :)

Yankeefan51 12-13-2009 04:50 AM

Dan

We have picked up a great deal of new business in the last
three months. We're quite sure that said, many new clients Googled us

In fact two of them asked about the Daily News post.

We told them it was an appropriate response to several idiots
whose very presence was a waste of oxygen.

Go back to reservation where you where you and family belong.

We are done with you and responding to a post that simply asked what was on your wish list for 2010.

barrysloate 12-13-2009 05:12 AM

Bruce- your posts are crossing the line to what is acceptable. Please tone it down (and no private emails, thank you).

joeadcock 12-13-2009 06:06 AM

Hope for
More E94's, an Honus Wagner.
Also hope what I consigned to REA does well.

Yankeefan51 12-13-2009 06:44 AM

Good morning Barry

Barry

Whilst we respect your opinion, in this cae we disagree.

Jim VB's comment about some shot fat guy was uncalled four
and we responded in a very direct method which speaks for itself

If you recall, the post was about a wish. not a want list- i.e. we issued
a disclaimer.... In fact we picked up one item from another board
member from this "wish list."

As for Dan, regardless of what we post. his insecurity, low self esteem and
narcissism is often reflected in his commentary. Accordingly, we hit back where we know it will hurt him the most.

All of our posts begin with a comment or a discussion about baseball cards or baseball memorabilia. If someone does not care for our writing style or
views on items or collectors, that is their right.

However, when said person decides to issue personal attacks, we will respond. If they fire an arrow- we will return it with a missile.

We have been an active collector since 1975. We have spent a great deal of money, and undertaken significant research. On four different occasions our
collection has been loaned to museums and it has appeared in four different books.

We never had an issue with anyone or a bad experience more than once.
This hobby, like any hobby, has its share of personalities. Some you enjoy and others you despise.

Our interest is rare ultra high grade baseball cards and memorabilia. We have used America's Toughest Want since 1980. And we choose to write in the second person...if that bothers someone, so be it.

With all the enemies that Dan and JImVB indicate that we have, we have still been able to purchase over $25,000 in rare cards from active board
members since Labor Day. We guess that there is a group that does not care for us. some who like us, and majority pay no attention.

With that said best wishes to Judy and you for the holidays.

Your friend

Bruce Dorskind
America's Toughest Want List

barrysloate 12-13-2009 07:05 AM

Bruce- any negative comments by Jim VB, Dan, or others are an accumulation of bad feelings that have gone on between you and them, and are not precipitated by just a single comment. It does seem that every time you post you do it in a way that is only going to lead to this kind of fighting.

I also want to add that comments directed at Dan such as "there is a Nebraska Indian interested in your scalp" and "go back to your reservation" are extremely racist and have no place in any form of social discourse. Again, I am asking you to tone down your comments. Thank you.

And thanks for the holiday wishes. Holidays are a good time to be a little more compassionate.

kkkkandp 12-13-2009 07:51 AM

I Hope, I Hope, I Hope...

After plugging one significant hole in my Old Judge collection (Alcott - Mansfields) this year, in 2010 I'd love to get any or all of these:

Frank Hankinson
William "Buster" Hoover
James Tyng
Ed Williamson and mascot

Re: 2010 Wishes

Bruce,

Besides a few miscellaneous cards I'd like to add to my collection
(ie T205 Joss, a few 1933 Goudey HOFers, 1934 Gehrig, etc.), my
collecting goals are undetermined. Having not bought any cards
in almost a year, I feel I'm wandering aimlessly without any goal
or mission in mind.

I'm pretty sure starting in early 2010 I should have some disposable
income so as to work on my collecting again. To the board in
general, any suggestions?

wrapperguy 12-14-2009 09:37 PM

Getting back to cards

Would wish to finish off a few sets:
1)1923-24 Exhibits - only Ruth and Gonzales left
2)E96 - only David and Mack left
3)R314 Borderless - only Almada left
4)R314 - No Litho - only Appling, Chapman/Werber, Simmons and Trosky left
5)R303-B - only Foxx left in sepia
6)Orbit gum pins (unnumbered) - only Earnshaw and Stephenson left
7)E121 - Series of 80 - need about 20

Happy Holidays to All!
