Negro League Broadside for Sale (1950 Ind. Clowns)

Now on ebay. My id is pstewart493r.

Up for sale is a Negro League broadside featuring the Indianapolis Clowns. I purchased it from Huggins & Scott and it is guaranteed to be original and unaltered. According to Huggins & Scott, it is from 1950. [But see the email below - it is more likely from 1961.] It's in great shape with beautiful colors. The individual players are shown clearly enough to be easily identified if you happen to know who they are (but I don't).

The price is $100 shipped, either flat or in a tube, your choice.

The dimensions are 14 1/8" x 22 1/4".

A scan is shown below, but you can see a larger version of the same scan at http://october09.hugginsandscott.com...gor_league.jpg. If you click on the scan, it becomes even larger.

If interested, please email me at pstewart@kmob.com. I'm mostly a card guy, so I don't check the memorabilia threads very often. Thanks.

I received the message below from Jason about the possible date of the broadside. I got the 1950 date from the original listing of this item in Huggins & Scott. But I have to agree with Jason that 1961 seems more likely.

"I just wanted to give you a heads up on a potential wrong date on the Negro League Broadside that you are selling on N54. I have a couple of books on the Clowns and I think that your piece is probably from 1961 not 1950. In the book "Some Are Called Clowns" the clowns are on their 44th tour and the year is 1973- that means that the 32nd tour would be 1961 not 1950. I checked and 7-15 was a Saturday in 1961. I would need to do further research to be sure, but I think that 61 is much more likely. Still a very neat item."
