BST Question

I'm sure this is a dumb question to many of you, but what does "bump" or "bump for new price" mean when someone is selling an item?

Jim VB 11-01-2009 06:44 AM

When someone replies to their own post this reply "bumps" their listing (thread) back to the top of the list (because threads with the most recent replies are listed first when you open the page.)

If they have lowered their asking price, then it's a "bump for new price."

When someone adds a comment to a thread, it "bumps" the entire thread to the top of the list. Sometimes people just want to make sure that their thread doesn't get buried such that people don't see it.

There are limits, however, as to how much "bumping" is acceptable / polite.

Looks like Jim beat me to it.

Dammit, Steve, that post really crossed the line. I suggest the mods place you on double secret probation for that transgression.

He's been on double-secret probation for the last 3 weeks.
