Team issued picture pack maybe? I don't have the dimensions, sorry. I first thought maybe R311 but Oldcardboard site doesn't have him listed. Thanks Dan.

Its a Yankee team issue from their photo packs. His picture was the same for a couple of years.
Here's one from '49 that I had slabbed. It was a '49 based on the other players that I had in the set http://www.qualitycards.com/pictures/0005898121.jpg |
Hey Dan
The Dodgers, Giants, Indians, Red Sox, and Yankees issued these 25-picture photo packs at their respective stadiums.
The Dodgers and Red Sox issued their 1st set in 1940. The Giants, Indians, and Yankees issued theirs starting in 1947. These team packs continued each year into the early 1950's. Most of the 1947 Bond Bread and many of the 1949 Bow- man cards were designed from these photos. Here's some samples........ <img src="http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt113/zanted86/1947stadpixbbcards.jpg" alt="[linked image]"> <img src="http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt113/zanted86/1948photo49bpaige.jpg" alt="[linked image]"> <img src="http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/tz1234zaz/bowmanroephoto.jpg" alt="[linked image]"> TED Z |
That Bowman connection makes me wonder if George Moll and his ad agency were involved in the picture packs and bread cards.
