OT on Joann

Just got a message that Ms. Kline received word today that she has passed her bar exams.

So now, we have to start treating her with the same level of respect that we reserve for all the other lawyers on here!

:D

FrankWakefield 10-28-2009 05:05 PM

Congratulations, Attorney Kline.

barrysloate 10-28-2009 05:07 PM

Congratulations! - I still have a recurring nightmare that New York Law School sends me a letter saying I'm actually 3 credits short and need to take another class and the bar again.

Fred 10-28-2009 08:32 PM

Congratulations!!!!

Just how much did you have to drink to pass that bar exam? Was it shots, mixed drinks or beer and wine? Did you have to "pass out" to pass?

Congratulations!!!!

Jacklitsch 10-28-2009 08:33 PM

That is great news!!!

Double congrats!!

tbob 10-28-2009 08:55 PM

I have many one-liners for such an occasion. "I've never passed the bar, or a bar for that matter" .... (crickets)

Rickyy 10-29-2009 01:07 AM

Wow that is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations Joann! :)

Great work! Which state?

jmk59 10-29-2009 05:02 AM

Wow guys. Thanks very much. I am beyond relieved. I theoretically had good reason to think that I'd passed it, but the sneaky bastards throw you so off-kilter by making so many things vague and borderline that I really had no true idea how I'd done.

Now I just have to catch my breath for another little minute here and then figure out what I want to do with it. (It was the Michigan bar, by the way.)

Thx again very very much for the thoughts. I really appreciate them.

FrankWakefield 10-29-2009 05:49 AM

So when is the swearing in?

jmk59 10-29-2009 05:59 AM

They haven't posted the swearing in for GR yet, Frank. I'm a little concerned that I will miss it. I'm traveling for 3 days in each of the next 3 weeks. Because the mass swearing-in events in right after the results are posted, I think there is a really good chance that I will miss mine. I may have to find a sponsor and go that route.

But I'm NOT COMPLAININ'!!!! :D

FrankWakefield 10-29-2009 06:23 AM

Actually, to do it with a sponsor and an individual introduction is more memorable. It's a glorious moment, much better than graduation. Proud of you!

tedzan 10-29-2009 07:01 AM

Joann

A big CONGRATULATIONS to you.

Hope to see you posting here more often, now.

Best regards,

What this thread needs are some good quotes about lawyers.

•There are three sorts of lawyers - able, unable and lamentable. - Robert Smith Surtees
•Whoever tells the best story wins. - John Quincy Adams
•A Lawyer will do anything to win a case, sometimes he will even tell the truth. - Patrick Murray
•Ignorance of the law excuses no man - from practicing it. - Adison Mizner
•In almost every case, you have to read between the lies. - Angie Papadakis
•A lawyer is a gentleman who rescues your estate from your enemies and keeps it for himself. - Lord Brougham
•A man is innocent until proven broke. - Anonymous

Congrats Joann!

A long tough journey and a great accomplishment but please, PLEASE, don't let it go to your head!! I don't think we could handle it if you suddenly began speaking in third person and using the word "whilst".

Excellent! Congrats Joann! Now, maybe you'll find a few minutes to post some of the amazing pickups you've grabbed this year.

I knew a lawyer who bought a book of lawyer jokes for her waiting room. I assume it was to get the subject out of the way asap, as she wasn't the type to crack jokes.

JK 10-29-2009 10:28 PM

Great news Joanne. Congrats and welcome!

jmk59 10-30-2009 04:33 AM

:-))) Thanks again guys.

I sort of like hearing the lawyer jokes (and boy-oh-boy have I been hearing them!). One, I think they are often really funny. Two, I spent 25 years in my former career, and no one once ever told me a Quality Director joke. I suppose that when/if I start getting aggravated by the lawyer jokes, it will mean that the thrill of having done this may have worn off.

And Dan, I will def try to post some of my pickups. I am really, really behind on my scanning but will try to put a few up this weekend.

Q: How many Quality managers does it take to change a lightbulb ?
A: We've formed a quality circle to study the problem of why lightbulbs
burn out and to determine the best thing we as managers can do to
enable lightbulbs to work smarter, not harder.

that was pretty funny.....

Kawika 10-30-2009 12:29 PM

A rabbi, a quality manager and a midget walk into a bar . . .

Cool. Now you get to say stuff like "if it pleases the court" and "may I approach the bench?" and "Your Honor, counsel is badgering the witness" just like Perry Mason and get paid for it. Congratulations on a great accomplishment and respectful acknowledgement of your go for broke perseverance.

rc4157 10-30-2009 07:55 PM

We have lawyers on this site???

Seriously, congratulations Joann, that is one great accomplishment. I'm with Frank, if there's any way to be present for your swearing in you should be there. I'm sure it will be extremely memorable.
