Question about Beckett graded cards on ebay

Hello, I wanted to ask everyone here at the board since I am not familiar with BVG holders if the three T200 beckett graded cards that are on ebay right now that end today are real holders. I am sure that they are I just wanted to be sure. Any help is always appreciated.

They look fine. What causes you to suspect that they aren't?

I'm sitting here wondering about this... the inquiry is whether the holder is real. No question as to the authenticity of the card therein.

This is an example of what troubles some experienced collectors.

Thanks for the respones

Hello, thanks for the responses everyone. The reason I brought this question is that I am a rookie when it comes to pre-war and graded cards. I know what a sgc and psa holder are suppose to look like but not a BVG holder. I am not questioning the honesty of this seller in any way and I do not want to make false attacks on anyone. I was just wondering what everyone's opinions on the board were because I am new to the pre-war graded game. The only cards I have are T210 series 6's which are my primary focus but I really like team photo shots and the T200 set is one that I might be intersted in getting into also given that it is a small set like the T210 series 6 that I might have a chance of getting a near set of someday. Thanks for your help everyone.

Some might think that the authenticity of the holder and the card inside might be related.

real card, real holder

phony card, real holder

real card, phony holder

phony card, pony holder.

I'd think a card collector would be after a real card... and to think that there can't be a real card in a phony holder, or a phony card in a real holder, is failing to be open to reality.

Give the guy a break. He asked a legit question and admits he needs help from our community. Like holders and cards, perhaps there's a relationship between how we treat our new guests/pre-war starters and the future of our hobby. I'm not singing kumbaya here but I don't think that comment was necessary.

That is a legit BVG holder. There are a lot of fake/reprint t200's out there, and they're tougher to discern from photo's than other fakes, so buying this set slabbed provides more peace of mind than other sets (imo). BVG does a solid job. Just steer clear of Beckett's BCCG slabbing service, as that's the one they developed to sell/market cards to simpletons.

I hear you Erich W... thing is that I've known the poster, Tony Turner, for a while. He and I routinely exchange emails. I don't think I offended him or chased him away. I do agree that someone new here might see what I posted and decide to steer clear of such...

But what I said remains sound. To hell with what's in there, all I need to know is that the slab's authentic... ? That's not how to collect cards.

Frank

I definitely agree with your point, Frank. Glad you and Tony are tight. :D

Good luck with the Fatimas, Tony.

Rob D. 10-18-2009 03:44 PM

Follow Frank's lead and you'll be just fine, Tony. He'll teach you the "right way" to collect.

Rob The Maven.

Rob D. 10-18-2009 04:13 PM

No, Frank, I don't claim any such thing. That's more in your wheelhouse. I don't think I've ever decreed a right or wrong way to collect baseball cards.

Like I said, that's your thing. (And you do it quite well, so be proud.)

FrankWakefield 10-18-2009 04:18 PM

Well if you don't know cards, what do you know, Rob? Arrogance? Obnoxiousness?

Rob D. 10-18-2009 05:04 PM

Deleted. Not worth the trouble.
