Did eBay finally cave on categories?

A pre-1942 category (although it has a lot of cards listed under 1942):

Yes, there's lot of shine if looking under the old search via (oldbaseball.com) Pre -1930.

Ebay.com has changed which includes all Pre War cards under the year 1942. This new catagory seems much better in my opinion, obviously a marketing technique.

Frank, I thought I was the board member who was nasty, abrasive and confrontational.

You're supposed to play the part of "good cop."

Hmmm...What do you think Mr Kotter would do in this type of situation? I'm sure he would find a fast solution some way or an other..

Not exactly - the pre-1940s category is created using the optional "item specifics" fields when a seller creates a listing. There are still about 10,000 card listings on eBay average where the sellers haven't specified a year and therefore the cards won't show up in that new category.
