I have seen lots of references to type 1 photos on this site. Are these type 1 or some other type of press photos? Thanks for the help.

The Jackie Robinson photo has a "Please credit United Press International Photo" stamp under the paper description on the back.

No question about it David. Both are absolutely TYPE I photographs (original photos printed from the original negative within two years of the photo being taken).

And they are both terrific images as well! The Dr. King & Jackie is an incredibly important image IMO.

Thanks Jimmy. I never knew what type 1 meant. And thanks for the kind words about the Jackie Robinson/MLK photo; it's one of the favorites from the handful of photos I have.

Hello,
Being a collector of Minneapolis stuff I picked this up a couple years ago...it's from when the Millers played in Cuba (Marshall Fogel also had a similar photo, last scan), is there a way to know if it's a type 1 photo?

Thanks!
Sean

It looks right, RFM is a Cuban photo service and the stamping looks right. Many photos that come out of Cuba are from the same archive and they have the newspaper cut affixed to the back like yours.

The reason that alot of the info is scratched out on the back is so that the person who brought it out of Cuba could get it through customs. You see that alot on photos leaving Cuba.

The photos of Fidel Castro and the Millers is awesome, very cool indeed!

There's a thin line between love and HATE!
