I recently picked this up (mostly) to be for sale.... but after checking it out it sort of falls into my niche of collecting everything except postcards (I like them but can't collect everything) so it will stay....I wonder what a Leap Year dance was?

I think a Leap Year Dance was one in which a young lady could ask a young man to dance.

After Al Capp (cartoonist of L'il Abner) got through with the concept, it was called a Sadie Hawkins Dance. (The main difference being Sadie Hawkins Dances allowed girls to ask boy to escort them to the dance. A Leap Year Dance, as shown on the Dance Card, would only allow them to ask a boy for that one dance.)

"..I wonder what a Leap Year dance was?"

An excuse to get drunk and hit on woman?

OK, seriously - also known as "Sadie Hawkins Day":

"There was a time when you could attend a Leap Year Ball
throughout the whole Leap Year. In some cases, the event
gave women the opportunity to ask a man, of her choice,
for his hand in marriage.
Leap Year Dances were common as well. Here, a woman
may do the asking for a dance. The women attending either
a Leap Year Ball or a Leap Year Dance may ask her man
to marry her. It is "OK" for a woman to ask in a Leap Year.

If a man declines a marriage proposal, in a Leap Year, he
must provide her with a silk dress and a kiss on the cheek.

Often referred to as Sadie Hawkins Day, February 29 is
Leap Day. Sadie Hawkins Day is November 15th. The only
similarities they share are that the girl does the asking."

Bob and Jim are right.

Looks like he was her Beau. Had the first and last two dances as well as the Leap Year Dance.

"But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in who's arms you're gonna be
Oh darlin' save the last dance for me"

note: he got the last dance and I got the Schottische!!
