o-t trivia 1000 hits for 2 teams

Following up on Johnny Damon and Rusty Staub from the other night, name players with 1000 or more hits for two different teams. So far I have found 3.

barrysloate 09-03-2009 06:16 PM

I guess Yaz and Ripken are out.

Cat 09-03-2009 06:30 PM

Jay Wolt 09-03-2009 06:31 PM

Heck, I should have thought of that one. I watch nearly every Angel game and I am sure he just celebrated his 1,000 hit as an Angel.

HRBAKER 09-03-2009 06:36 PM

I think the other is Dave Winfield.

iwantitiwinit 09-03-2009 06:39 PM

In addition to those named correctly above, players to collect 1,000 or more hits for two different teams during their careers are Jake Beckley (Pirates/Reds), Buddy Bell (Indians/Rangers), Eddie Collins (White Sox/A's), Fred Clarke (Louisville/Pirates), Joe Cronin (Senators/Red Sox), Carlton Fisk (Red Sox/White Sox). Jimmie Foxx (A's/Red Sox), Frankie Frisch (Giants/ Cardinals), Bid McPhee (Cincinnati of the American Association/Reds), Tris Speaker (Red Sox/Indians) and Dave Winfield (Padres/Yankees). Several players are/were very close, Andre Dawson, Ken Griffey Jr, Manny Ramirez, etc

Peter_Spaeth 09-03-2009 06:41 PM

one more
ah never mind good job but did you know all those off the top of your head?

iwantitiwinit 09-03-2009 07:16 PM

No way, I just started looking at players stats to come up with a few then did a search and found the rest. Good question though.

Peter_Spaeth 09-03-2009 07:29 PM

OK how about 5 pitchers with 120 plus wins for two different teams?

brickyardkennedy 09-03-2009 08:35 PM

Alexander? Cy Young.

ChiefBenderForever 09-03-2009 08:45 PM

Nolan Ryan has to be one, then I would guess Clemens has to be another one. I can't think of anyone else except Alexander and Young already mentioned, maybe Catfish Hunter ?

Jay Wolt 09-03-2009 09:49 PM

The 1st guy that came to my mind is Lefty Grove

White Borders 09-03-2009 10:01 PM

Greg Maddux with the Cubs ('86-'92 and '04-'06) and the Braves ('93-'03).
Cy Young with Cleveland and Boston
Grover Alexander with the Phillies and Cubs
John Clarkson with the Chicago White Stockings and the Boston Beaneaters
Jim Galvin with the Buffalo Bisons and Pittsburgh Pirates

Jay Wolt 09-03-2009 10:03 PM

Forget Grove, I just checked, 195 wins w/ Philly & 105 w/ Boston

ChiefBenderForever 09-03-2009 10:39 PM

I guess I got a D+ on that one.............

I have Manny with 1,086 hits as an Indian and 1,232 as a Red Sox

Peter_Spaeth 09-04-2009 06:40 AM

Young Alexander Clarkson and Maddux are right. One more. Modern guy.

iwantitiwinit 09-04-2009 06:53 AM

Easy Randy Johnson

hoot-owl 09-04-2009 07:26 AM

Gaylord Perry?

Tyler 09-04-2009 07:32 AM

Mussina?

Jim VB 09-04-2009 07:37 AM

I think Mussina is correct and Johnson and Perry are wrong.

Peter_Spaeth 09-04-2009 07:52 AM

mussina is right

Yep. Just looked it up. Johnson only had 118 wins with Arizona.

There is a really bad joke that can be inserted here...but I'm going to let it go...

I was pretty sure I'd get the pitchers right but evidently I don't know the trivia as well as I did as a kid...
