favorite card?

ONE card. You don't have to own it. What's your favorite?

HRBAKER 09-01-2009 10:31 PM

1913 Boston Garter Frank Baker (and I don't own it)

chiprop 09-01-2009 10:33 PM

Without a doubt, this one.

What are the chances that a baseball card would be produced of Babe Ruth as an unknown teenager, straight out of boarding school, during his 5 month stint with the Baltimore Orioles of the International League?

And no, I do not own this card - the image came from REA's website.

HRBAKER 09-01-2009 10:54 PM

Yep..........

Richard, that's the one.

Wesley 09-01-2009 11:40 PM

1903 E107 Breisch Williams Honus Wagner (I don't own.)

Jantz 09-01-2009 11:45 PM

At the moment, I would have to say my favorite card is the T205 of John McGraw.

My new "favorite card" someday will be the last card that I have to buy to finish my T206 set.

Here is mine:

1914 Cracker Jack Walter Johnson.
Simply the greatest card created in the history of card creation.

1914 Cracker Jack Shoeless Joe Jackson.......

Harry Wright's Kalamazoo Bats. That whole series is fantastic, but that card is the best. Not mine.....maybe someday

Kind of a lame choice, but I really do think that a nice, bright copy of an N162 Kelly is the most beautiful baseball card ever made. I don't own one. Someday I'll find one that looks just right and fits the price I want to pay, and I'll pull the trigger.

calvindog 09-02-2009 08:40 AM

This is my favorite card -- though not my favorite player.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/calvindog/3855430139/" title="1910 Tip Top Bread D322 by calvindog65, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2480/3855430139_9916c4c365_o.jpg" width="401" height="683" alt="1910 Tip Top Bread D322" /></a>

As for my favorite Cobb card I'd say his Boston Garter is my favorite.

rdixon1208 09-02-2009 09:33 AM

Easy

T210 Joe Jackson

ChiefBenderForever 09-02-2009 09:44 AM

I guess my favorite card I don't own would have to be a Ty Cobb T206 Bat Off shoulder. It just seems so timeless and pure baseball, not to mention all the colors that make it the perfect card.

drdduet 09-02-2009 10:33 AM

T210 Jackson with the Pelicans...

my faves

I own neither but my 2 faves would be a Matty 1912-13 Boston Garter and the t210 Jackson....followed closely by a 1914 Ruth...(which I don't have either).....

aaroncc 09-02-2009 11:44 AM

Probably the Cracker Jack Joe Jackson & Old Judge Cap Anson in uniform. I don't own these.

pitchernut 09-02-2009 12:13 PM

Hands down

1914 Ruth and no I do not own....

brianp-beme 09-02-2009 01:46 PM

N162 Kelly

I must be paddling in the same boat as Al, as my top card would be the N162 of Kelly. I am really into the aesthetics of the cards we collect, and for me the Kelly tops the scale. Maybe someday....

I'd say my choice is driven by the uniqueness of the pose. I've narrowed it down to three, but can't decide. So in the spirit of completely disregarding the spirit of the post, I'll list all three:

T209 Thompson B&W (Uncle Sam pose)

1913 Zeenut Leard (Let's get drunk and bunt)

Kalamazoo Bats 2 player card in which you can see the scenery support beam in the background

Don't own any of the 3. I think 2 of these are Leon's.

Don't own it, and probably can never afford it

Encapsulated Cobb green background portrait with Howe McCormick's stamp on the Piedmont back. Graded as a 2 because of the stamp, would otherwise be a strong 4 if not a 5. The Cobb greens are beautiful anyway, and this one fits my niche.

T2069bk 09-02-2009 03:57 PM

Mine is always...

The most recent one I picked up!!!!;)

Epps 09-02-2009 04:06 PM

T210 Jackson followed closely by A Boston Garter Joe.

E93 09-02-2009 04:07 PM

Hard to pick one, but this is always near the top of the list. CJ Cobb and Jackson are right up there too.

Unreal T205 Matty, JimB. Whoever owns that Cobb signed T202 . . . WOW!
It is near impossible to say which is my favorite card. I have half-a-dozen in my collection that could be so designated and some of the cards I have seen posted on the Board or by the various auctions are pretty great, too. Just one? The winner by a whisker . . .

There are a few close runner-ups, but this one always comes out on top:

Something very classic about this one.

It's not a prewar card, but this has always been my favorite (I do currently own this one):

My favorite card is T206 Eddie Plank...no I don't own one (probably never will)
But it's an amazing card in my opininon...and this E95 is no slouch either!

chaddurbin 09-02-2009 08:35 PM

t210 jax...followed by t206 plank (i.don't.own.it)

3-2-count 09-02-2009 09:01 PM

I'd like to add one to my list if I could. My first choice was the 1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson, but I do not own it, (YET!!! :))
One I do own though that is a close second is this one. There's just something special about the image of Ole' Addie on his T205 card.

When I saw this card in a book in 1990 I thought it was a special card! A little over a week ago I was able to pick it up. Babe Ruth in RedSox Uniform, Walter Johnson, George Sisler, and Stan Coveleski all on a card that has this special nostalgic look to it.

White Borders 09-02-2009 11:32 PM

My Favorite - I believe the Bruce(s) own it:
