Isn't this the piece that you just had for sale on BST where you asked for a cashier's check or a wire because you were moving to Texas? No checks or paypal accepted? And then you removed it from BST and for the second time in two days you put it on the main board where you know it doesn't belong? Here are my thoughts: a guy who has never posted on the board previously now asking for cash for an item because you need the money right away raises a red flag.

And the winner is no longer a registered user on ebay...

Yes, but Greg, don't let that fool you: he's a great guy. Not good -- great.

This is a tough room to work.

Gosh Jeff there are so many great guys to buy cards from. How can a collector go wrong?

GradedCobb 08-08-2009 02:46 PM

eBay prices are not always what something is worth.. i can name many examples...

i bought a Roger Maris signed program for $80, and sold it for $350
i bought a deck of Ty Cobb Bigelow cards for $75, and i am selling the graded singles for $25 each.
I bought a group of 55 AP photos for $61, and i can sell them of much more than that..

so just because an item sells on eBay for \"X\" amount does not mean it is worht \"X\" amount.

This Ty cobb piece would do much better in a major auction like REA.. eBay is not the place for this item..

Good luck to you... on the BST board, not here on the main board.

I saw the same item on ebay a few days ago. I was watching it, or maybe placed a small bid as a way of watching it. I was notified by ebay that they had taken down the auction, and was warned not to buy the item.

Without regard to the propriety of posting on the Main Board after first posting on the BST my first thought when I saw it on the BST was how was the date of 1910 determined?

The picture is the same as Cobb's 1921 Exhibit. He sure looks a lot older than 24, the age he would have been in 1910.

Me thinks Beckett made an errer... Uni appears to be either 1918, '19 or 20.

Would like to know the significance of the armband.

edit, Hmm, 1920 -- Black armband on left sleeve to honor Cleveland shortstop Ray Chapman?
