1935 Wheaties - help

Recently picked up a 1935 Wheaties fancy frame J. Foxx. Sent to SGC as a single card submission - came back few days ago an SGC 50 - thought it would get better - mild disappointment.
Not able to find much info on these cards, I just called SGC, talked to a nice fellow - comes to find out it is the only Foxx ever graded and it also is the highest grade SGC has ever given out for a 1935 Wheaties - he said there are 4 other Gehrigs, none of which is as high as SGC 50. What do you folks know of value, desirability and rare factor with 1935 Wheaties? Thanks, steve |
I've never understood how grading companies can assign a number grade to a card that is almost always (unless you find a complete or partial box) hand-cut. Perhaps they graded it down because the cut was too close to the frame border ...

that Foxx is a beauty.
i just bought my first Wheaties from Brad G. ---a Lefty Grove(a beaut!), and find myself drawn to them, although i have the same questions that you do. those Wheaties boxes really do bring back the memories! congrats best, barry |
