Do any of you Type Collectors have one of these 1910 era cards?
 

Im posting this for another collector to try to find any more info (checklist, theories, etc.).

Over the years I have seen a couple others from this rare series, do any of you have one??

T card size, blue caption, blank back, very colorful

Never seen one of those. It looks sort of homemade? Do you have any other info on them at all? Maybe Glen V, Bob L, or Dan M will chime in.....

Reminiscent of Japanese printing to me - via Menko etc. Something about the colors and somewhat loose registration - possibly a 40's/50's release based on an earlier issue? A wild theory I know, just throwing it out there.

OK.... I finally found one of the cards after looking through a couple hundred scans I had saved of oddball stuff. I knew I had it somewhere :)

Here is the McCormick from this series, lets see more, so we can get a checklist started. Ive seen a couple others too.......

PS I call them ca.1910 "Blue Caption" cards.

The card is vintage to 1910 era, Im fairly sure....

The collector who owns the O'Hara above is Named Mike G........ he just signed up and he might be posting soon?

He found this card glued into a scrapbook/ledger with a bunch of other 1910 era cards (T201, T202, T206, E92, etc.) and nonsport cards too if I remember right.

PS. If I remember right, for some reason I also think Mark Macrae had one of these, but I am not sure. ????

As you know this McCormick card is mine. I got it from Ron Vitro several years ago. There are 2 Honus Wagners from this set too. For some reason I don't think the first one you posted and this one are from the same "test" set. I have it labeled as a "Nadja-like" candy card.....neat stuff

I agree it's circa 1910 - the O'Hara just reminded me of a piece I have from Japan, probably 1950's. Bad registration, blue font....

I had pictures of Leon's McCormick and the Wagner in my old files, but never knew what to make of them.

What're your opinions on whether these three are all the same issue? The "a" and the apostrophe look the same.

Should we catalog them? "1910s E-UNC?" What are the measurements?

I don't have mine here with me but I believe it is the same size as a regular "e" card, similar to E90-1, E104 etc :).... After more observation it does look like the first one could be from the same series as the Mccormick and Wagner(s). It would be nice to have all 3 of the different types in hand. At any rate 1910's E-Unc would definitely be correct....These could almost be an E104-4. Neat cards.....

They all definitely appear to be from the same issue, but not sure E UNC would fit.

Thanks for chiming in, Robert, your opinion is always appreciated. I was speaking with Lyman yesterday about how to catalog these. I'm sticking to my guns on my thoughts but it is just one opinion, with respect to cataloging of these. I am going with what they look like from all sources I am aware of, 1910 E-Unc. And if we really want to be more specific I would go with E104-Unc. They do look somewhat like Nadja's and have a look similar to our caramel issues from the time frame. They certainly are closer to that than T cards I am aware of (thinking off the top of my bald head). Not sure there is a right or wrong answer but I would rather talk about these, all day, than much of the other crap we get bogged down with :eek:. regards

Hi Leon, sorry I didnt reply sooner (i only get online 2 times a week)

I should have noticed the black background on the McCormick scan as yours ... its just like all your other scans (except the quarter is missing :) )

I save unusual card scans and Ive had this scan for a few years now.


PS Never seen the Wagner before, cool :)

Rare O'Hara Card
 

I was wondering if anybody knows anything about this series and maybe an approximate value. I am not interested in selling it but I don't see a discussion board for pre war cards. I have been told it is from a very rare series and not much info is available. Just wondering if anyone can help out.

How about a photo of the back?

Currently it is affixed to an index card like backing. I am in the process of sending them away to have the backing professionally removed.
