What year were the Boston Store cards issued?
Greetings everyone. Does anyone know what year the Boston Store advertising back cards were issued? I look forward to a reply.
Thank You |

I agree with Phil despite the 1916 date on the flip here. And this card was my last win from a Sloate auction. Barry, Obama is not going to support you forever -- go out and find me some more rare Cobbs! :) |
Jeff- only the rich and the poor are supported...the middle class get a kick in the pants (okay, sorry for the political jab).

Boston Store Back Cards
Hi guys. Thanks very much for the info. I have an Urban Faber with this Boston Store back and also Ray Schalk. That is very cool since the White Sox were in the World Series in 1917 and Faber pitched and won a few games also. I appreciate the reply to the question. I had read something about 1916 at one time. Guess this has been officially revised.
Thanks P.S. I also have a Faber with the Holsum Bread back. The same photo was used on the Holsum card and Boston Store back card. |
The Sports Collectors Bible lists them as 1916, but more recent scholarship suggests 1917 to be correct.

I'm on the case.

The Holsum bread backed cards are from 1920-21. So, although they often used the same photos as the E135/Boston Store cards, they are from a few years later.

thanks. I appreciate that added info. The Faber card that I have with Holsum back is SGC graded and it is dated 1921. I love those oldies but goodies. This card is Faber in the dark unifirm which is very sharp on the card. See attached photo.

Should we expect it for sale any time soon?
