1913 Baseball Player Stamps

So does anyone know anything more about these other then what is listed in the SCD about them. Would you consider them cards?

There are 5 in the set, measure 1 13/16 x 2 1/2 and are full color images with a fancy boarder.

Cobb
Matty
Jackson
Speaker
and Bender ???

Anyone got any of these as I would love to see some pictures. Any thoughts or information would be great. Seems PSA doesn't have any in there pop and SGC has 6 total 3 Jackson, 2 Cobb and a Matty.

never really seen them

I saw the Jackson on ebay but just didn't know enough about them to go after it.....I think I might have seen 1-2 others before....but don't remember specifics.

I sold the matty for about 4800 a few years back, they are very cool, rare, but not very popular. Dan.

JamesGallo 07-01-2009 08:34 AM

I wonder if they are not popular due to people not knowing anything about them.

Leon I can assume that you don't have ont then? Would you include this as part of your type collection even though it isn't a "card" per sa...

Dan, Wow that is a strong price on the Matty, I would assume it wasn't graded but in grade shape. I also must figure these things are REALLY thin.

Anyone else have any information on these.

It was in an SGC holder but I don't remember the grade, I think it was low actually but you may be able to find that on their site. I have Cobb in my type set I can dig out for you to see, Dan.

Last night the Jackson sold for $898.

Dan,

The cobb is pictured on Old Cardboard, but I would be curious about the stock. You don't have a image of the Matty by chance? The SGC Matty was just authentic but so was the Jackson so perhaps they won't give these number grades even though one cobb was a 10...

The stock? They are stamps just like Postaco or Helmar just larger.

danmckee 07-01-2009 08:55 AM

no image of the Matty sorry. Dan

canjond 07-01-2009 09:14 AM

Are they 1912 or 1913?

Leon 07-01-2009 09:23 AM

yes and no

Yes, I consider stamps for my type collection though I haven't hunted for them as I do regular cards. No, I don't have one yet but feel it won't be impossible in the future. Since they are uncatalogued by the ACC I don't consider them needed to be complete. I only consider the ACC for MY collection to be complete (everyone has their own way of collecting).....and of course, I have hundreds of cards that aren't catalogued.....Neat stamps....though to me, they look like they could be more contemporary than 1913. I wonder how the dates got put on them? I think SCD says "circa" or something to that effect.

danmckee 07-01-2009 09:33 AM

Too funny! I just read this thread again and see my earlier post stating Matty at 4800. The shift key must have been let up to fast, it was $800. I was wondering why James thought that was high. LMAO at myself!

danmckee 07-02-2009 06:50 PM

oops! I lied
