1966 Topps Punchboards
I have been receiving scans from from a person who inherited a number of these from a Topps employee and has been kind enough to send me scans. The checklist has grown to 14 cards:
Banks/Stottlemyre Clendenon/Kaline Flood/Skowron J.R. Hart/Mantle Koufax/Yastrzemski Roseboro/Richardson Marichal/Rollins Grant/Callison Stargell/Mantilla Mays/Conigliaro Killebrew/Torre Frank Robinson/McMillan Hansen/Cardenas Santo/Battey and I have scans of them all plus some other stuff on the set over at my blog: http://toppsarchives.blogspot.com/se...%20Punchboards I've sent the link to Don Fluckinger at the Standard Catalog as 4 of these were previously unknown. I do not know what the owner ultimately intends to do with them and he is not looking to sell or consign them at this time. I will not be passing along requests to him either so please respect his wishes for privacy. Any comments you have for me though, fire away, especially on my theory of how many cards might be in the set (my educated guess is 20, if you were wondering). |
1966 topps double punchout mickey mantle jim ray hart
hi dave
since this person has all of these currently that means the i know of 5 or 6 that there are 2 of i would now guess that like almost all topps oddballs they must come in a multiple of 3 so somewhere from 18-36 at the most if they come from the same person who had the plaks, hopefully they will hit the market soon |
I don't know if he is going to consign them, I think he is not doing anything with them for the time being. This is not related to the Plaks find in any way, it was from NYC. I was incorrect in my first post, the person who originally owned the cards was a member of the Topps Baseball Club and apparently got them thru said organization. Anyone ever hear of this club and it's MO of sending rare cards to its members?
As for the packs, I can't see six per pack. Three full cards would probably be about twice as thick as a regular pack and since 12 packs is half the usual allotment, that could be it. As for set population, it seems to be harder than the 61 Dice Game right now. Rob Lifson believes the wrapper had the Mantle P'board on it. More as it happens.... |
