Strange 1975 Topps error card question
 

Hello all:

I finally got around to sorting through a real nice stack of some 1975 Topps that I bought as part of a collection months ago, and I came across a strange error card.

Pictured on the front is George Hendrick of the Indians, which is #109 in the set. But the reverse shows #344 Ben Oglivie of the Tigers, perfectly centered as if it was the card back for that card.

Anyone ever come across something like this or see one of these from '75 before? Any light you can shed on this is much appreciated.

Yes, they are refered to as wrong backs and while they are not common for any one card, did happen more frequently when less sophisticated printing processes were used for making cards. Generally, an entire sheet or more were "wrong backs" before being detected by the quality assurance process.

I think they are an acquired taste. I have a '60 Willie Mays with a Dave Ricketts back. It's just a failure of the process.
