1927 Zeenut Question

Any know why on some 1927 Zeenuts they have the year "27" in a white box while other cards have the year in their "standard" position? Where they printed with the same quanity or does either one carry a premium price?

No real difference in price, as (with one exception) all cards of each player are only found in one way or the other. Shinners can be found with the "27" in box or in small print.

Had wondered about that myself.

Jim Horne was the Zee-Nut expert of times past. I deem Mark Macrae the current expert.

In Jim Horne's great work, Zeenuts 1911-1938, he notes the two variations of 1927 cards, but offers no explanation or thoughts.

Is great puzzlement.
