The sun is out here in Pennsylvania....after a week of steady rain. So, do I hit some baseballs with my Grandson....or, play tennis with him ?
Ronnie is a Southpaw, and has an edge on me. There should be a "law" banning left-handed tennis players :)

In any event, we will take the top off the T-bird and ride in style.

metal detecting

coin collecting... especially ancient Roman coins. I like getting the uncleaned ones and cleaning them myself through electrolysis and other means.

online computer games (MMORPGs) - Ultima Online, Vanguard, EVE, etc.

traveling

Unfortunately, I only have time and money to do one hobby/recreation at a time now. So, it's baseball cards (and even with just that one I'm pretty limited), so everything else has pretty much been put on the back burner for awhile. With a 3rd child nearly here, I don't foresee expanding my free time for these hobbies for awhile.

Wow...................mine are not near as exciting as some. I like coaching my son's Under 11 soccer team and playing my drums (alone or jamming with my "band"). My "band", a group of older married guys who get together when our wives let us. LOL! You know weekend musicians............you know the type.

I'm a big fan of video games, especially vintage Nintendo games. I probably still play stuff like Punch Out and Super Mario Bros as much as I did when I was a kid!

Recording locals bands here in the Nashville area and trying to explain to the wife that cards are an investments and that saving accounts are bad news.

Thats funny, my kids dragged out the old SEGA Genesis game system and proceeded to pummle me silly with a chair while playing WWF (wrestling you know). It has been a long time since we played that, how do they still remember the moves? The graphics are horrible, but its fun nevertheless.

I think we program those moves into our brains as kids and never forget them. I'm 28 and I still remember all the moves and codes like I did when I was 5-6 years old. :)

I love geneology and am constantly researching family history.. I have a membership to Ancestry.com and all their database archives if anyone ever needs some family research done just shoot me a PM. I have also used the arhives to reseach pre war baseball players.. :D

What I Do
 

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old that dominate most of my time. My boy just wants to throw the ball and my girl wants to talk about how much boys stink. What a great life! Other than that, I am thoroughly enjoying the Rockets' playoff run. I bought season tickets this year for the first time, and I couldn't be happier with the value.

A fellow video game guy here...from the original Nintendo to the current generation of games. Anybody here have an XBox 360? Wouldn't mind getting a game of something together with some fellow Net54 members, so if anyone is interested just send me a PM and we'll exchange GTs.

I also enjoy reading about a variety of subjects from baseball to politics, science (especially astronomy and space exploration), investing, and history. I also enjoy writing, especially screenplays, and have a few in progress currently.

Finally, I've also been spending more time at the gym lately trying to get in better shape...I've let it slide the last year or so and am starting to feel it.

Non collecting-related baseball activities (sort of):

-Tracking down lost/missing players, both dead and alive
-Finding relatives of deceased players to gather new biographical info
-Visiting neglected gravesites of players

HO scale slot car drag racing, like to build my own and race on my home made 36v drag strip.

I just got into it myself - I had wanted to try it and I studied it on my own for about 3 months, right as the market was tanking. I read up on Zecco.com (GREAT site to buy stocks and even better for 1st time buyers). I purchased a large quantity of Citigroup when the whole AIG fiasco was at it's height in the media (as AIG went down, so did the other players). I purchased it at a staggering $0.97 cents a share. It's now at $3.86 (as of 2:05 PM). I did the same thing with Ambac (I studied the dropping stocks and used a site that you can play for fun using mock-monies and see how my predicted stocks did -they did GREAT! Amazing. You happened to buy C at exactly its 52 week (and probably all time) low, to the penny. With that kind of start, what will you do for an encore?

I am an avid birdwatcher and general nature lover. My graduate studies focused on vertebrate ecology and behavior. Jeeps have always been an obsession. I currently own a 1997 Jeep Wrangler which is my 6th since I was in high school (my first was a '77 CJ5).

In addition to baseball I have an equal of not greater interest in vintage football. I also collect old clocks (which was my Grandfather's obsession...I have one of his clocks in every room of my house), antique books, and old 78's to spin on my 1923 Brunswick phonograph (which was in my Grandparent's basement for close to 60 years under an old blanket).

Hehehe - thanks Pete - I also purchased Ambac at $0.81 cents a share - it's picked up to $1.44 right now.

My next purchase will be Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac (all three companies are too large to fail - it's a risk, but definitely a calculated risk that I know was going to pay off). I went to the NYSE website and looked at ALL 100+ pages of stock listings and went after the banking businesses (what goes up, must go down, and vice versa). I then looked at the 52 week high and low.

Fannie Mae at the bottom end is about $0.76 cents a share, high is about $0.88 cents - but look at the 52 week high; no way in hell that's going to stay there. Even if it goes up to only $5.00 a share...and my buy price is around $0.80...and I purchase 1000 shares....that's $4,200.00 pure profit.

PS - I'm also looking at Colonial Banc Group. I WAS going to buy ALY at under a dollar, but didn't pull the trigger - now look where it's at...I was not happy about that one hehehe

Buy Low, Selll High. That's all you need to know.

XBox 360 - don't find a lot of time to play, but when I do, it's usually Call of Duty: World at War

Well, there are the 3 kids which take up a good deal of my time; I also teach a class every morning and enjoy my garden in the warm months.

I love to Ski. Downhill and Cross Country. Also a long distance runner. It keeps me feeling younger then my years.

include attending every high banked dirt racing track my son and I can find. The dirt is alot like cardboard...I can't seem to function well without a constant feed of either. Other than that, my family...the best addiction of all!
