there are 14 captains who appear once
41 captains who appear twice
25 captains who appear 3 times
and 6 captains who appear 4 times
a total of 86 captains with 195 lineups
as discussed in earlier threads and now pretty much accepted
grote gibson campaneris macmillan and b.robinson do not exist as captains..Topps describes the set itself as having nearly 200 lineups..not over 200 and not exactly 200

The 68 Baseball Plaks also appear to have players pulled, for unknown reasons as Larry has written, so this theory appears more sound by the day. Larry, you should write this up for an article or at least give us some clues on SP's vs. RP's and XP's ;) I will again take the blame for Grote being added to the checklist as it appears to have been a corruption of Groat I pulled from an old SCD ad.
