Posted By: John S
1894 has never been definitively established as the date for the release of the N302's. 1894 is, however, the best fit for the players that are represented in the set. The Mayo's could have been released as early as 1892.

Posted By: Michael Blaisdell
Below is my research of the teams and players represented in the Mayo FB set. The one common thread I found of the players pictured in the set is that they all played during the 1893 football season, which would make me believe the cards were issued around 1894.

Harvard (11)

The cards for the Harvard team are almost identical poses and uniforms from the 1893 Harvard team picture. Individual player pictures were probably taken at the same time, and eleven players were used in the card issue.

Player -Lettered
Robert Acton 93
Arthur Messinger Beale 93,95,96
Charles Brewer 92,93,95,96
Robert Wales Emmons 91,92,93,94
John William Dunlop* 93,94,95,96
Madison Gillham Gonterman** 93,94,95
George Arthur Gray*** 92,93
William Charles Mackie 91,92,93,94
Thomas James Manahan 93
Bertram Gordon Waters 91,92,93,94
Edgar Newcomb Wrightington 93,94,95,96

This card is missing the name and is known as "anonymous" in the hobby.
This card misspelled the last name "Gouterman".
This card misspelled the last name "Grey".

Yale (11)

Even though all the Yale players pictured played in 1894, they also played in 1893. Where as the Harvard team matched almost identical to the 1893 team photo, the 1894 Yale team photo did not. With out having an 1893 photo, it can not be said for certain, but I do believe the players were from the 1893 season.

Player -Lettered
George Adee 93,94 94
Richard Armstrong 93,94
Anson Beard 93,94
Frank Butterworth 92,93,94
John Greenway 92,93,94
William Hickok 92,93,94
Frank Hinkey 91,92,93,94
James McCrea 92,93,94
Fred Murphy 93,94,95,96
Philip Stillman 92,93,94
Brinkerhoff Thorne 93,94,95

Princeton (11)

This team had two more players represented in the set than the other two teams. Once again the poses and uniforms pictured on the cards are almost identical to the 1893 team photo (11 players shown). Several of the players from that team graduated in 1893. Not all players (#) were pictured in the 1893 team photo. The players not pictured did play in the 93 season, and are pictured in the 1894 team photo; though the poses and uniforms do not match the cards. The 1893 Princeton team won the championship with an undefeated record. This may be a possible reason for the two extra players included in the card set.

Player -Class Graduated
H.W. Barnett # 96
Harry Oliver Brown 95
C.D. Burt # 96
Eddie G. Crowdis # 99
Augustus Frederick Holly 95
Langdon Lea 96
Franklin Blake Morse # 95
Neilson Poe * # 97
Dudly Riggs # 97
Knox Taylor 95
Thomas Gawthorp Trenchard 95
William D.
