Leatherheads
Posted By: Michael Moran
I went last night to see Leatherheads - there was a full house at our local theater. There's some fun in it, almost like a Disney movie - you could go with your young children and enjoy it as a family because the plot is simple, there's only a little mild cursing, and the characters are clear and colorful. As far as telling anything about the history of pro football - it does show that the college game was the big draw in the 1920s and that the pros were working on a shoestring and that a big name college player was their financial salvation. Everything else is mixed up - and some things are simply wrong. It had nothing to do with the book "Leatherheads" see http://www.x-communication.org/xcomm/books/leatherheads.html

I enjoyed seeing the helmets, the railroads, the mud - I'm glad I saw it on the big screen. I think the amount of box office this movie gets could be a factor in whether or not "Breaker Boys" ever makes it to the screen.
