He
has a card that shows what, for lack of a more accurate term, appears
to be a lightning bolt in the sky at top-right. His other two cards
don't have that "bolt."

My examination of the "With Bolt"
cards shows there is dot structure within the white streak, indicating
the streak was present when the original team pix was half-toned for
the printing process. The "No Bolt" card appears, therefore, to be a
correction, not only eliminating the "bolt," but touching up the sky
color around it, replacing the purple hues with blue.

Justin Moen of the current Standard Catalog staff, asked me if I felt
this was worthy of inclusion in the big book. I told him my personal
opinion was, "No," but that I'd get the information out to this forum
to solicit your thoughts.

I guess the real question is how many exist of the variations.

It reminds me of the "green bat" variation in the 1967 set (Schall?) or the "finger" variations in the 1981 Fleer set. More an anomoly than a legitimate variation.

But that's just one collectors thoughts.
