Uncut 1977 Topps strip - part of sheet or sample?

Posted By: Daniel
I recently purchased through eBay a 1977 Topps baseball strip of 3 cards (Hunter, Seaver and Munson). I think it's highly coincidental that 3 such high profile players would be together in an uncut sheet. The eBay number is 360026247158. It is regular card stock and the back is fully printed. I'm wondering if anyone has a '77 sheet that shows these 3 players together or if this is a saleman's sample or something like that. The seller does have another identical piece being offered for sale and he speculates it could be a sample or magazine insert. Thanks for any insight! - Daniel

Posted By: Rob D.
I think Dynamite magazine was available only by ordering through scholastic book clubs (remember book orders when you were in grade school?). I know the magazine also had a nine-card insert/uncut sheet of 1975 Topps baseball cards, too, because that pretty much was the highlight of my sixth-grade year.

Uncut 1977 Topps strip - part of sheet or sample?

Posted By: Dave Hornish
I believe the first Dynamite magazines with Topps cards were issued in 1972. I am not aware if different strips could be found in each issue or if the same cards were always issued. I seem to also recall the 72 issue had more than a 3 card panel.
