1967 Topps Clemente Poster Sticker
Posted By: <b>Dave Hornish</b><p>I have been getting some e-mails from people regarding this purported Topps issue which is referenced in the Standard Catalog (within the 1967 Poster description) but not actually checklisted. It appears this sticker is a reduced size (I'm guessing 2 1/2 x 3 1/2" standard size) version of Clemente's '67 Poster, either without the little circle that has the player info or just the number deleted within the circle. I do not know for certain what type of sticker stock is used nor do I know the type of backing paper. It is not one of the '67 Pirates Stickers that were issued by Topps in a limited release.<br /><br />There is a short discussion about this on the Standard Catalog blog: <a href="http://tinyurl.com/35ezgb" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://tinyurl.com/35ezgb</a><br /><br />I have known about the possible existence of this for about 8-10 years but am not convinced it is a Topps issue. I am not aware of any other players issued in this style which makes me think it's not a Topps issue but I could be wrong on both fronts. Certain superstars have had their Topps cards bootlegged into alternate formats over the years (Yaz in particular) and other Topps issues have been appropriated by enterprising collectors as well (miniature 1955 Plastic Rings for example).<br /><br />Can anyone post a front and back scan and/or more information? If it is a legitimate Topps issue, it's a scarce one.<br />
