1984 Topps encapsulated set

Posted By: Kevin Saucier
I have a complete set of scarce 1984 Topps encapsulated blank-back proofs for trade. These are listed in the Standard Catalog.

This 66 card set was only made in sheet form. Any single cards seen were cut from a sheet and, when found, usually have bad or off-cuts with thin borders. Just the commons have been listed on eBay for $25 each.

The set only (not singles) up for trade is for 66 ungraded individual cards (rarely seen), with straight even cuts. Some of these have creases and small stains. The key card, Nolan Ryan, books at $300 but good luck ever finding one, let alone even close to that price or with nice cuts. The Ryan, along with many others, look great with clean even borders. Scans or a specific card condition on request.

This is a very desirable set, frequently discussed on CU, with some highly valued error and many HOF cards in it as well. Not all the 80's or modern cards are crap! As far as I know Global is the only company that will grade these.

As an example, here is the Ryan from personal collection:

<a href="http://www.AlteredCards.com</a" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://www.AlteredCards.com</a> - an education on card doctoring and prevention

Some stars and HOFer's include Henderson, Ryan, Carter, Boggs, Yount, Sutton, Seaver, Morgan, Dawson, Jackson, Fisk, Trammell, Fingers, Molitor, Piniella, Rice, Valenzuela, Reardon, Foster, Griffey Sr., Franco, Sax, Nettles, Evans and the ultra-rare Carlton/Matthews & Trillo error cards. Not bad for a small proof set.

Here is a well written PSA article where they are mentioned. Back then he did not own a complete set:

Collecting The Impossible

Kevin
---------------

AlteredCards.com - an education on card doctoring, prevention and much more!
