Ultra RARE uncataloged Pacific Coast News Babe Ruth card from 1948
Posted By: Jim Manos
Only a few example's known to exsist. This was a mail in premium from the Pacific coast news in the Sept 25 1948 issue. The card is vg-ex is the size of a R314 I would say. Has a stat back and a portrait front. The card has his facsimile auto on the front and is black and white. This card was sent in to Beckett along with all documentation to be in next yrs annual. This piece will also accompany a copy of the Sept 25 1948 order form for this premium card of Ruth. A must for the Ruth collector. $1500 This is a investment quality piece as only a few are known to exsist. MC/VISA welcome call to reserve 614 562 2421

Ultra RARE uncataloged Pacific Coast News Babe Ruth card from 1948
Posted By: fkw
Hi Jim,
Are you sure this card is not the 1948 "American Association of Professional Baseball Clubs" card listed on page 26 in the 2007 SCD???

It is also roughly postcard sized b&W portrait with facsimile siganture. The stats only show Yankee years and the bottom has the AAOPBC line or has no identification (I own both).

Can you post a scan of yours?

Leon will post it with the copy of the article. Thank you.

Ultra RARE uncataloged Pacific Coast News Babe Ruth card from 1948
Posted By: fkw
Now I see where they get the 1948 year for the set. I have always called them ca.1936. The SCD says the card was 1948 because the bio on back notes Ruths death, but that is not true.

BTW Both of them are more common that you think. I have owned about 8-10 and maybe seen 20-25.

The only differences between the 2 variations is the "AAOPBBC" line at very bottom, and the style of the "R" in Ruth at top.
