Should The Pats Downplay Their Upcomng Super Bowl Rings?

With all the relentless bad publicity and hostility involved with another Patriots cheating scandal, will the team issue smaller Championship rings and keep the award ceremony off social media?

The first picture below, showed up on Twitter this week, and it pretty much sums up how many football fans feel.

Very quietly, with absolutely zero fanfare, I heard from an official at Jostens who's involved with their Championship rings, that they were awarded the design and making of the Patriots Super Bowl XLIX rings.

This year's upcoming Super Bowl ring presentation feels remarkably different from others that happened over the last few years.

In years past, the date of the team championship ring ceremony was circled on the calendar and announced through social media weeks and perhaps a month or two before the actual date.

It was also announced which ring company was making the championship rings way before we saw pictures of the latest Super Bowl ring on social media and internet news sites (and of course, my championship ring blog!)

Have you noticed that there has been no mention in the media, or by the Patriots, or the NFL, any details of the upcoming Super Bowl ring presentation event? Typically the rings are awarded in June, and it's become rarer to hand them out when training camp opens a month or so later.

The second photo below is a photograph of the Brady/Belichick/Kraft era Championship rings. These Super Bowl rings and AFC championship rings are much bigger than other team's rings. It will be fascinating to watch how the latest championship ring compares and how the Patriots decide to handle the PR behind the ring presentations.

I'm hoping, but I doubt, the Patriots will show some class and present a more appropriate, smaller, less bling-filled championship ring.

Any thoughts on this matter?
