VCP (Vintage Card Prices

I need a universe of as many auction closing prices as possible. I currently use PSA and their list of various auction houses and closing auction prices. How does VCP rank? Opinions?

I use VCP a lot. It doesn't always keep up with current market trends on cards that are really hot but it gives a very nice historical perspective on pricing. well worth it for me

Thanks.

I like VCP and use it frequently, but I'm finding that they get data for fewer and fewer completed sales from eBay. I often look up my own eBay purchases and I find that many of them are never reflected on VCP.

Sometimes I find myself searching using Heritage's past auction sales data.

PWCC just made 14 years of eBay sold listings available on its site.

Out of all available references I go with VCP.

They have the most regulated data and have been around the longest.

PSA and PWCC both have a lot of raw data with issues.

I am not saying VCP doesn't have any issues, because it does, but it has far less than the other two listed above.

As with all data-- it is as you interpret it. Do your research and know what you are buying.

When I recently employed PWCC's latest toy, I found it quite interesting, but with the caveat that it listed at least two sales at the BIN price, when that was not the amount they sold for. I bought one of the cards (a 1924-25 Champions Exhibits Babe Ruth--thanks, Adam!) for a best offer accepted, and had been watching the other, which also sold for best offer accepted, rather than the BIN.

May your collecting be joyful,

Larry
