Winners Announced - Brockelman Auction contest w/vintage card prizes

1 Attachment(s)
It's that time again, yes, to make some guesses about the upcoming Brockelman Auction that ends this Saturday, and be rewarded with PreWW2 cards for your efforts.

The auction: http://www.brockelmanauctions.com/catalog.aspx

This time your guesses will involve B, C, D...it's easy as 1,2,3. This contest is Jackson 5 approved, except that the remaining members are a little upset 'A' is not included. I say who likes 'A' anyway.

The contest involves lots in the PreWW2 section (basically lots #1 through 250) that have a player's last name in the lot title. The first letter of the player's name you will be searching for will be the ones that start with the letter B, C, or D.

Your goal is to name the amount of each of these 'B', 'C' and 'D' lots that I consigned, as follows:

Lots with a player's last name in the lot title that begins with letter 'B' - 2 lots (out of 16 total lots to choose from)

Lots with a player's last name in the lot title that begins with letter 'C' - 3 lots (out of 20 total lots to choose from)

Lots with a player's last name in the lot title that begins with letter 'D' - 1 lot (out of 12 total lots to choose from)

For example, if this contest were instead involving the letters F, G, and H (which it is not...pay attention!), a guess by you might look something like this:

F: lots 21, 165

G: lots 3, 93, 242

H: lot 64

The contestant that has correctly guessed the most lots that I consigned in the combined B, C and D categories (as detailed above) will win their choice of either 1 HOF card, or 3 common cards from the vintage card selection shown below. In case of a tie, the person who guessed earlier is the winner.

Just added bonus...runnerup(s) will get one common card of their choice. See my last post on this thread for details.

You can guess a total of two times with no editing, and the cutoff time for guesses will be 3pm EST Saturday October 24th, which is the day the auction closes.

GOOD (educated guess) LUCK!

Brian

John has followed all the rules and has made his guess in exactly the format as requested...thanks for giving everyone a good example! And not surprisingly John currently has the best guess. Unless NAT did a better job with his guess.

Remember, everyone is allowed two unedited guesses before the 3pm EST Saturday October 24th deadline.

Check out the auction and participate...I find it kinda fun to scavenger hunt an auction, especially one with a bunch of vintage cards.

Keep them coming...one person who provided their court mandated two guesses is currently atop the leader board by themselves, one correct guess above some of the others, but this person and their guess can be topped.

Good Luck!

My contest is definitely a lot more involved than the other Net54 contest, but you are rewarded with vintage cards of your choice. The other contest is great and easy on the mind, but money is the reward, which to me seems like the trade-off normally associated with working for a living.

Your efforts in this contest will be rewarded with plain old cardboard goodness, which to me sounds like enjoying the hobby. The contest ends 3pm Saturday.

This contest ends in less than 1 hour, so get your two guesses in now before the 3pm EST deadline.

Bonus prize(s) added...the runner up(s) who either have the same amount correct as the leader, or possibly instead have one less than the top guesser, will each get one common of their choice, after the grand prize winner selects their choice(s).

Good Luck!

Brian

I double checked all the entries, and vtgmsc is the grand prize winner with 5 correct. Piman58 is the runner-up, with a guess that also included 5 correct (but coming in after the guess by vtgmsc).

I will be contacting each shortly via PM. Thanks to all for participating, and carry on with your Brockelman bidding!

Brian,
Thanks for the contest, I probably wouldn’t have looked at this auction if it wasn’t for your contest - I was able to pick up a few items!

I hope you did well! I will bid on items in the future from them again, low buyer premium and shipping was very reasonable.

Thanks again
John

Glad to have helped you discover it...besides self-interest due to consigning, and spreading a little vintage card joy to fellow collectors, I just like to put a spotlight on Brockelman because I appreciate how Scott has structured his auctions for the collector. Everything from the no consignment fee, to low buyer premium, quick and reasonable shipping, and quick consignor payment makes it enjoyable for both consigner and bidder.
