Fewer junk wax out there...

I, like many of you, will buy a few boxes of wax junk from time to time to relive some childhood memories. Over the weekend I bought a 1988 Topps rack pack box and a 1990 Donruss wax box from my local card shop.

About 4 packs into the Donruss I was wondering why I had wasted my $5 on the box. I couldn't even completed the Yaz puzzle either. Threw all of the cards away, which is what I typically do rather than keep piles of crap. I've probably thrown away a case worth of 80s/90s wax junk - you're welcome. :D

The 1988 Topps box was more fun. I always thought the design was pretty solid and simple. There's something about crisp white borders; perhaps that's what drew me to T206s as well. Anyway, I pulled two Glavine RCs and a few would-be 10s of the typical HOFs and stars. And yes, the rest went straight into the trash.

At any rate, just felt like sharing. Perhaps in another 30 years this stuff might actually become desirable again, for reasons other than cheap weekend entertainment.

Mine goes to goodwill...seems people buy that crap still

I love the 1988 Topps design. Simple and clean. If the backs were a little nicer, it may be my favorite design ever. As it stands, 1980 is my favorite.

The 88 design is one of my favorite for autographs...no clutter and very clean. I like the 87's also!

I LOVE buying boxes of '91 Topps and '89 Fleer and ripping 'em!!!!!!!
I have a few "valuable" packs, but honestly, my view is that packs were meant to be busted!
A friend recently offered me some unopened pack of something for $100, so I told him I would take it and rip it at his kitchen table! Somehow, I didn't end up with that pack...

My extras always go to friends, kids or goodwill though. Never the trash. I just can't bring myself to throw cards in the trash. Unfortunately, my mom did not have that issue when I was a kid.

yeah id rather give them away, I can't throw cards away

I always like busting those 20 pack walmart boxes, you always get atleast 1 or 2 packs of 80s cards. fun to bust.

For the longest time I couldn't come to throw away cards either. But the problem I have with that is you end up with piles and piles and boxes and boxes of junk. I used to donate them or give them away to kids, but its a lot easier sometimes to just trash them.

I have kept several large boxes of my childhood cards and plan to give them to my son when he's old enough or expresses interest.

:DPerhaps the harsh winter has sent some to the fireplace? That's probably the best return one could hope to get for most of them.....a few calories of heat.

Nobody has interest in trying to compile sets of these wax busts?

I get throwing or giving away duplicates of commons, but why not go for a set?

Anything past 1987 I have no interest, but how could anyone trash the early mid 80s stuff?

To me,nth is era is more fun to collect sealed, than busted. Love the look of the boxes and packs, more than the cards.
