363 wins even though he missed 3 years in WW 2 where he participated in the Battle Of The Bulge and won a bronze star and a purple heart. Another hero of that generation

Red played much of his career as a player. coach and manger for the Cardinals but played on two great Braves teams in 57 and 58. He and Musial were close friends and decent men as well as great baseball men

WW 2 vet, 17 year career, 5 time all star, one World Series ring. Not a heavy hitter but great defensive catcher who handled one of the best rotations ever while with Cleveland.... Feller, Lemon, Wynn and Garcia. I am partial to his 59 Topps card

For those of you who have been following our journey through the 1953 Bowman Color Baseball card set, this card marks the end of the low numbers; beginning tomorrow, high numbers 113-160 are spotlighted.

Some years ago, Dean Hanley, founder and owner of Dean's Cards, authored the book "The Bubble Gum Card War: The Great Bowman & Topps Sets from 1948 to 1955." In his analysis of the 1953 Bowman Color Baseball card set, Hanley observed that cards in the high numbers were no more difficult to obtain than cards from numbers 1-112 based on his store's continual inventory. I suppose if someone wanted to assemble our featured set in one day, regardless of any card's condition and or price, it would be an attainable goal. However, taking into consideration the condition of the available high-number cards 113-160, there is greater difficulty in acquiring the high numbers due to the lack of quality control with centering being the main problem. Do you find this to be true?
