Posted By: <b>JimB</b><p>I have never had success in the holder, but I have had success cracking and re-submitting. I would be afraid to crack your card for fear of damaging it as much as anything. If it were me, I would wait to do it at a show where you can talk to them and they have to actually show you why it is not an 8 rather than just anonymously mail it back to you as "min. grade". If it is as nice in person as it looks in the scan, I don't know how they couldn't put it in an 8 holder on review.<br />JimB

If they were easily forged or altered into NM, there would be a lot more of them. That is the case with many high-grade vintage cards, but even more so with T205s.<br />JimB

Posted By: <b>MVSNYC</b><p>here is an analysis of the rarity of high-grade T205 vs. T206...(from looking at the PSA pop reports).<br /><br />Total T206's graded: around 80,000<br />Total T205's graded: around 17,000<br /><br />For every (4) T206 there is LESS Than (1) T205. so they are at least 4 times as rare.<br /> <br />For high grade:<br /> <br />T206 cards rated 7 and above - 6739<br />T205 cards rated 7 and above - 1088 <br /> <br />Which makes high grade T205 about 6 times as rare.<br /> <br />Go higher, and you get<br /> <br />T206 8 and above -2642<br />T205 8 and above - 193<br /> <br />Which makes 8's and above T205's about 14 times as rare.<br /><br />high-grade T205's are really tuff.<br /><br /><br />Dave- to answer your question, i bought mine already slabbed. the one time i bought a high-grade T205 raw (it was such a blazer, i thought it was easily an "8"), PSA deemed it trimmed...<br /><br />leasson learned, stay away from RAW high-grade T205's.<br /><br />MS<br />

When you consider that probably a higher percentage of the high-grade T205s have been submitted than low-grade (purely for economic reasons), it seems that probably far less than 1% of T205s survive in nm/mt or better. That seems about right. Again, if they were easy to doctor and get past PSA or SGC, the numbers in those slabs would be A LOT higher.

When you have a T205 PSA 8 population one common selling for $5k and up...the incentives are aligned for potential alterers to try really hard to get something past PSA/SGC/GAI...and the risk (e.g. the grading fee) is a pittance compared to the potential reward.

If the doctoring is unsucessful -- a doctored card has very little value. And, logically the cards that have the best chance of being improperly "improved" and getting the coveted high grade are those that already grade high. So you might have to sacrifice a PSA 6 or 7 to even try to get an 8. And the doctoring is would likely be irreversible and permantly damage the card. Additionally, I believe that only a few people with PSA/SGC etc. actually grade T205s so it is unlikely that resubmission will help as much as it might with a more recent issue.<br /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1190253575.JPG">

The other one has 2 wrinkles that do not show on the back.
