SGC Offering Crossover Deal...

Posted By: Jeff Shepherd
I was just on SGC's site (www.sgccard.com) and a window popped up offering a pretty nice deal for cross-overs: All cards valued under $500 - $5. All cards valued between $500 and $2500 - $10...and they register your sets for you. I'm not in any way affiliated with them, just thought I'd spread the word. My recent transaction with them was a great experience - hats off to Michael Goldberg.
Posted By: Rob Dewolf
I didn't want to start a thread but thought this would be a good place for this. I recently sent to SGC six PSA-graded Lajoie cards to be crossed over. This was the first time I had submitted cards for crossing over and didn't know what to expect. Understand that this is a minuscule sample size so no conclusions should be drawn one way or the other. Just thought it might be of interest.

e90-1 American Caramel, PSA 3, crossed over to SGC 50/4
e92 Nadja Caramels, PSA 1, crossed over to SGC 10/1
M116 Sporting Life "blue", PSA 2, crossed over to SGC 30/2
National Game, PSA 8, crossed over to SGC 96/9
T213 Coupon Cigarettes, PSA 2 (MC), crossed over to SGC 30/2
Lajoe Game, PSA 9, crossed over to SGC 96/9

Recap: three grades stayed the same, two improved a grade and one stayed the same but without the PSA qualifier (I guess you could say a half-grade bump without the .5 )

Posted By: Eric
I'm sitting on a few 1952 topps PSA Mantles...

a PSA 1, PSA 2, PSA 3 and a PSA 7

I was thinking about crossing these over to SGC hoping for a grade bump on one or two of them...

But comparing prices, even at a bump, the selling prices are still about the same so it may not be worth it.

Posted By: peter ullman
sounds more like a 50% bump...losing a qualifier is good. i just thought scg was stricter than psa...therefore i'm a bit surprised. i'm running for my crossovers now.

Posted By: JK
Peter - SGC will give each card a fair and honest review. If it warrants a higher grade, they will give it. Dont kid yourself into believing that its routine though. Ive probably crossed as many cards to sgc as anyone. Ive had a few bumps, most have stayed the same, and Ive had more than I can count that didnt cross because they would not meet the minimum grade requirement.

Posted By: Glyn Parson
Dean,
If you want to use our crossover service but want them back faster then 30 days you have options. First you could use the standard $7 crossover service ( 2 Week Turnaround, $500 MAX VALUE ) or you can pay the appropriate tier price for 5 business day, next day, or sameday turnaround. If you have any questions please call me at 1-800-742-9212.

Thanks,

Glyn Parson
SGC
Posted By: sagard
I have around 10 cards that I'd consider crossing over to SGC. Three over $500 and the rest under $500. Would they have to be completed on seperate orders? Or can they be combined on one sheet?

Posted By: Glyn Parson
You can always send in multiple grading levels on one invoice. just include a break down at the bottom (ie 5 X $7=$35 AND 2 x $10 = $20 TOTAL= $55). If you do this please note your order will probably ship at the lowest (longest) tier you choose.

Thank You For Your Interest In SGC,
Glyn Parson
SGC

Posted By: Al Davis
When SGC evaluates a cross-over that has a minimum grade request, do they only inspect it within the card's orginal holder? What if the card appears to meet the minimum grade initially, but after being liberated from the holder a defect is found that lowers the grade below the minimun grade request? Surely the card can't be placed back in the old holder, and the card doesn't qualify for a new SGC holder, so what kind of card-purgatory does the card now exist in?
