A Terrible Miscalculation

There's a story on Yahoo about a guy who sold his baseball card collection, 20 years in the making, to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend. But she declined, so now he wishes he still had his Joe Jackson card rather than a big diamond ring. Let's hope that nobody here let's emotions get in the way of clear thinking.

MY GF said if she found out I sold my cards for a ring she would slap the piss out of me and say NO till I could save and buy one. Guess my collection will continue to grow as she waits for the question:D:D:D:D

I'd feel like a horrible person if I had my girlfriend sell her her beloved collection of whatever to buy me an engagement ring. I'd prefer getting a tin ring from the bubblegum machine and let her keep her stuff.

David

Agreed. I would also rather get something very simple to allow her to keep what she felt was important to her.

The guy made the right move. The woman was and is more important than a card.

The woman may be, not so sure about a piece of jewelry.

The right woman is more important, but not that woman, evidently.

Count me as one who sold a bunch of cards to pay for an engagement ring. She said, 'yes', later encouraged me to get back into baseball cards, and we have now been married for over 15 years. :)
