I don't even have the card in hand yet, but I won it last night from Greg Morris. Does it look short top/bottom? I thought it might when comparing to other borders...

It might just be the scan, but I think I’m seeing what you’re seeing on the top. I’d examine it carefully when you have it in hand.

One of my favorite Musial cards, nice choice.

Yeah, I'm not saying the edge itself looks trimmed, necessarily, just that the borders seem a little short overall top/bottom.

And thanks! :)

I grew up in St Louis. I still remember opening a pack and finding that card. My first Musial. At that time I had no idea there were no prior Topps cards of him. Was fortunate to see him play in person. Have always been sad he retired after a decent 63 season, a year short of the Cardinals getting back to the World Series against the Yankees

Looks ok to me

If you look at a bunch of these you'll see that the combined borders, left+right, are typically greater than the combined borders, top+bottom.

If Stan had come back for 1964 and played halfway decent, no way the Cardinals would have traded their best pitcher for Lou Brock and without Brock, no way the Cards win anything that year.

Good point

I purchased my copy of this card back in 1980. My borders top to bottom are smaller than the borders on this card.

If you don't like anything about the card, just return it. GM is great to deal with.

+1 on that.

Hey guys, so I got the card. It does seem to be about 1mm shorter, maybe less, than other cards of the era. I mean, I doubt it’s trimmed but maybe it’s factory cut short? I can return the card if I want but could also submit to sgc. If it is indeed trimmed and comes back altered that would hurt. What would you guys do? Return or keep and submit. I asked Gmcards if they have any sort of guarantee that it is not altered but I haven’t heard back yet. Thanks for any help!

It can be a natural short cut, examining the edge closely can often provide indicators. 1mm is a bit large of a gap for that year. If you are intending to submit to SGC, return it. It will probably come back as trimmed. It looks short at a glance, they’re unlikely to grade it.

Here's what we're looking at. Nothing about the top or bottom edges jump out at me.
