quick update on board activity

Posted By: leon
My thread about memorabilia being hot or not was to garner some thought provoking discussion, which it did. I know memorabilia is avidly collected as I do tend to get about an auction catalog a day, it seems....Here is an update on this boards activity level so far....I would say "not too bad"...

Unique IP address

Sun, May 13... 159
Mon, May 14... 182
Tue, May 15... 184
Wed, May 16... 107

Page views

about 1000 on the weekend and 2500 on weekdays....give or take a few...

So there is some activity going on and compared to the other memorabilia boards I would say this one is quite a bit more active. It seems real easy to jump back and forth from the card board to this one....and I think that fosters more conversation too.....Glad it's working out so far...except you guys never argue. What's up with that?
Posted By: Mike
Leon, most memorabilia isn't slabbed, no material for argument there, and wrinkles and creases can't be taken out of a bat. Nothing to fight about. just share info... Kidding of course.....

many more pictures coming soon.

Posted By: Jeremy W.
I really like this site & want to thank Leon & his crew for bringing this thing around. Now, if only I can get off my lazy butt and scan/photo some images & learn to post them here. And yes Leon, being able to jump back & forth is very convenient.

Posted By: mr. moses
as I occasionally stop by there. I find this is an easy site to maneuver around, easy to find a topic, as well as EZ to post on. So far no fighting (all for that) and people will share more as time goes on. I think the main thing is that people have to have the ability to take and post pictures and the willingness to put themselves behind the eight ball when doing so. Sometimes it could be hard to withstand or accept the scrutiny that might expose a treasured object as being overspent for or worse a marriage or fake. I for one like to know that about what I have. Others may not be as thick skinned and prefer to discover troubling pieces in anonymity.

Posted By: Max Weder
The real key is the ability to toggle between the two boards. That said, since this board was created, I don't think I've posted on the card forum...

Max

Posted By: davidcycleback
The only dilemma is, when when you have an Off Topic, which board to post it on. It would appear the prudent move would be to post it on both.

Posted By: barrysloate
Post off topic on the other board, so that if a fight breaks out because of it, the card people will get blamed and we can look like little angels.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I think maybe we should set the parameters of off-topicness that will be tolerated on this side over here.

I for one would like to see not just prewar baseball memorabilia, but I would like to see memorabilia from all the major sports. I know that a lot of equipment collectors don't limit themselves to just baseball and you can see by looking at photos of some of the collector rooms there are basketballs, footballs and other items.

Boxing cards seem to be okay to post over on the card side so I don't see why we can't allow memorabilia of all the major sports over here - with a predominance of baseball of course.

Thoughts?

Posted By: leon
Really, it's ya'lls site. I would vote to leave it baseball but ya'll make the call on off topics. I would guess boxing and football would be legitimate OT's......I am far more open over here, concerning O/T, than the card side....I will be here if it gets out of hand though....but ya'll would probably be telling me it's out of hand, not me telling ya'll, as I do on the other board. I would prefer ya'll to set your own parameters for the most part......Hope this makes sense....just some thoughts...best regards

Posted By: Greg Theberge
Sorry about the O/T beer stuff. Just wanted to show examples of what we did for restoration of some pieces in the thread on restoration of pieces. The "memorabilia" room is mostly beer, hence those photos. Anyway, great site. Other sports don't bother me at all. The more the merrier on this end...
