Anyone ever open a 1933 or 1934 Goudey Wax Pack?

First, Sorry to all my followers as I have not revised my Unopened Wax Packs list since July. This year's National was incredible!! While I have sold a number of the packs since then, I have only bought about ten to twelve very rare packs since then. I will revise my list early next year.

Question: Does anyone know how many cards came in a Goudey 1933 or 1934 wax pack? The wrapper does not give any indication as to whether it is a 1 cent or 5 cent wax pack. So that makes me think that the packs could be 1 cent packs like the Superman Gum pack that indicates a 1 cent price on the wrapper.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Steve Sabow

Goudey Pack

One card per pack with a piece of gum almost the size of the card, not bubblegum. We have to remember they using the card to sell the gum.

I remember the fellow I bought my first Goudey cards from, years (decades) ago at Chanute AFB, told me that...1 card per pack. I have a 34 wax pack wrapper, and it would not fold up right (I checked) with several cards in it.

Sadly, I think this type of empirical evidence (through experimentation) may have to do! And would probably hold up in court!

I think Teddy Z might have as a little kid!

Thank you all -- I may be getting a pack or two -- and this confirms what I thought. If I get them, they will be with me at next year's National, if they don't sell before then.

Sorry Chris -- I wouldn't consider a pack or two a collection, but I hope to get them soon.

I was going to say if there were ever a break available, say at the National, for a 33 or 34 Goudey pack I would be in. Although I'm sure there's almost no chance the contents would be worth more than the unopened pack. But at only one card per pack that would be tough.

What does an unopened 33 or 34 pack go for these days?

I've looked all over the internet and through old threads. You can find posted photos of wrappers of 1933 and 34 Goudey cards, but I could not find any unopened packs. I guess they exist, but...
