Joseph Hall Individual Player Cabinets

1 Attachment(s)
I was thrilled to death to win this 1891 Joseph Hall cabinet of Amos Rusie this morning. Now I need to know more about this card. I'm familiar with the Joseph Hall team cabinets, but have never heard of any individual player cabinets. So my first question is whether any others are known? Is there a checklist somewhere? Also, this doesn't seem like a standard studio cabinet to me because the player's name is printed on front. This suggests to me that these cabinets may have been offered to sale to the public rather than just produced for the player and his family. Is that right? Any information about this card or others like it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've fallen onto the second page. Does anyone know anything about these cabinets? Thanks.

Individual player cabinets exist and are popular. Many likely were sold commercially.

Here is some info from the Bob Lemke archives on the oval ones that I have seen at auction in the past.

I would think the street clothes cabinets were more likely family photos.

Neat cabinet Paul !

Regarding the personalized mounts, this is common for some Studios such as Detroit's Tomlinson Studio. Their team photos as well as single player action shots and portraits were frequently mounted to personalized mounts such as follows.

Poor Charlie can't even have legs on his Tomlinson cabinet.

Paul,

Can you provide a scan of the back of the cabinet.

I've seen other Jos. Hall cabinets of players in street clothes, however the players name is not subscripted below the photo (on the mount).

Anybody want to post pictures/scans of the Jos. Hall player cabinets?

The card hasn't arrived yet, but the back is blank.

Great looking cabinet.

I have a hard time posting scans from my iPhone. Here is a link to the lot which has images of the front and back.

Paul,

The following shows a couple Jos. Hall cabinets of players in street clothes. Left is Paul Cook. Right is Pat Murphy. Neither has the player name below the picture. The cabinets share the same back that is shown on the far right. I sold these for a friend of mine many years ago.
